Local Crime from 16th District 8-21-13


A WOMAN WAS charged with possession of narcotics following her arrest at about 3:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at her residence in the 4600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who served a search warrant found 23 bottles containing more than 800 pills of various types including Xanax and Norco as well as a bag containing numerous prescription labels, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Diane L. Steffens, age 45, of the Milwaukee Avenue address.

A MAN REPORTED that someone fired shots at his car at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug 17, in an alley in the 3200 block of North Nagle Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a black vehicle followed him from a gas station, and that after he turned into the alley, someone opened the passenger door of the other car and began shooting at him, according to police. The rear window of the man’s vehicle was broken and a bullet was lodged in the rear driver’s-side seat, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, in the 5200 block of North Elston Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 57-year-old woman reported that a man approached her, shoved her repeatedly into a wall and took $20 from her, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in an alley in the 5100 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a man attacked him with what he thought to be a crowbar and that a woman struck him in the mouth with a lock, according to police. The man was treated at Our Lady of Resurrection hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was stabbed at about 8:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, on the 4800 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that as he was crossing the street with his wife and daughter, a passing car nearly hit him, and that when he yelled at the driver, the car stopped and a man got out and slashed him on the neck, causing minor lacerations, according to police. The man declined medical attention, police said.

A TEENAGER WAS arrested after he allegedly stole money from the collection box at Saint Francis Borgia Church, 8033 W. Forest Preserve Drive, at about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers set up a surveillance after several recent thefts from the collection box were reported, and the teen allegedly approached on rollerblades and took $2 that had been placed in the box, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as a 16-year-old male.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5700 block of West Higgins Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that an HP notebook, an Apple iMac, a Neat scanner, a Garmin global positioning device, Sony headphones, an Apple TV box, an external hard drive, a Sony Play Station 3 game, a Sony video camera and two language learning discs were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5600 block of North Marmora Avenue was burglarized between 9 p.m. and midnight Monday, Aug. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a diamond ring, a Samsung Galaxy tablet and a mug full of coins were missing, according to police. The man said that the back door of the home cannot be locked, police said.
