Local Crime from 17th District 8-17-13


A MAN WAS STABBED at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, in the 3900 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 62-year-old man reported that while he was visiting a friend, a man began a disturbance, asked him to meet him outside, and stabbed him in the abdomen, according to police. The man was treated at Our Lady of the Resurrection Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, in the 3900 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that two men got out of a white Cadillac sport utility vehicle, shouted gang slogans, struck him on the head with a baseball bat and took his cell phone, according to police.
One of the men was described as 5-7 to 5-10 and 160 to 170 pounds. The other man was described as 5-7 to 5-9 and 195 to 210 pounds.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in the 4400 block of North Kilbourn Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that after he got off a Chicago Transit Authority Blue Line train, a man took his backpack and a second man took $30 and his iPod, according to police.
One of the men was described as black, age 18, 6-0 and 190 pounds. The other man was described as black, age 18, 6-0 and 250 pounds.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the 4400 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 54-year-old woman reported that a man took her necklace, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic and age 45.

A WOMAN REPORTED that she was robbed at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, in the 4100 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 28-year-old woman reported that a man pushed her against a wall and took a bottle of prescription pain reliever from her, according to police.

A WOMAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob her at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Aug 11, in the 4600 block of West Waveland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 58-year-old woman reported that a man grabbed her from behind, pushed her to the ground and searched her pockets but that he fled when a person shouted from a nearby window, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 25 to 35, 5-8 and 170 pounds.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6200 block of North Springfield Avenue was burglarized between noon and 5:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a tablet computer valued at $1,000, an iPad mini tablet valued at $400 and an iPod valued at $300 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 10:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the door was open and that two laptop computers valued at $900, an Xbox 360 video game console valued at $250, a Play Station 3 video game console valued at $350, a Nintendo Wii video game console valued at $350 and a video game console valued at $150 were missing, according to police.


TWO RESIDENTS reported that their apartments in a building in the 4100 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that two laptop computers, a television set, a camera and an iPod were missing, according to police.
Another woman reported that she discovered that the rear door was open and that a television set, two laptop computers and two cameras were missing, according to police.

A MAN WHO REPORTED that he was attacked in an apparent gang-related incident was arrested on a gun charge the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officer responded to a report of shots fired in the 3100 block of West Lawrence Avenue at about midnight Sunday, Aug. 11, and a 22-year-old man who was bleeding from the head reported that a group of gang members attacked him and shot at him but missed, according to police.
Officers who responded to a report of a battery in progress at about 2:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12 saw a man in an alley in the 3100 block of West Leland Avenue who fled when he saw them, according to police. Officers found the suspect hiding under a car in the 4700 block of North Albany Avenue and also found a .357 caliber handgun in the street nearby, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as David Rivera, age 22, of the 4100 block of North Keeler Avenue.

A WOMAN WAS arrested on retail theft charges at about 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman take undergarments valued at and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Maria L. Rua, age 37, of the 6100 block of North Winchester Avenue.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the village Public Works Department facility, 7001 N. Lawndale Ave., was burglarized between 4:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and 7:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, according to Lincolnwood police.
The employee reported that he discovered that a metal plate had been removed from a garage door and that a power washer, a circular saw, a reciprocating saw, a hedge trimmer and other power tools were missing, according to police.

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, in the 3400 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a car for speeding, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as a Harley D. Sroka, age 43, of the 400 block of West 38th Street.

A WOMAN was arrested on retail theft charges at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that she saw the woman take $169 worth of intimate apparel and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Antoinette Nordor-Gray, age 37, of the 6400 block of North Hamilton Avenue.

A WOMAN was arrested on retail theft charges at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that she saw the woman take $286 worth of cosmetics and clothing items into the fitting groom and then leave with the items concealed, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Selma Ahmetasevic, age 19, of the 4800 block of North Winthrop Avenue.
