Local Crime from 16th District 10-30-13


TWO MEN REPORTED that a man in a car fired a gun at them in an apparent gang-related incident at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in the 3800 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old men reported that a gray Chevrolet Caprice pulled up next to them and a man in the car fired a gun at them three times, according to police.

A MAN WAS CITED for several license violations after Alderman John Arena (45th) discovered that a social club was operating at the former One Solution Tech store, 4408 N. Milwaukee Ave., at about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Arena reported that as he was driving past he saw several women trying to gain entry to the building and that when he entered the business, he discovered a group of men and women inside what appeared to be a social club with a bar, according to police. Arena said that most of the occupants left before officers arrived, and two men who remained could not produce a business or liquor license or a social club charter, police said.
A jukebox and an unplugged video slot machine were found in the business, and citations were issued for not having a liquor license and for not having an amusement tax emblem on the machine, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Pulaski Polish Deli, 7141 W. Addison St., was robbed at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old woman reported that a man who has been in the store on prior occasions approached her to make a purchase and that when she opened the cash register he took about $1,500 from it, pushed her out of the way and fled, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the 5000 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old woman reported that as three men approached her and that one of them punched her in the face and took her iPhone valued at $200, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly attacked an off-duty police officer at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Rex Tavern, 4933 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 28-year-old officer reported that the man became belligerent and called the bartender names and that when he confronted him about it, the man swung at him with a bar stool, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jonathon D. Jones, age 45, of the 2100 block of North Stave Street.

A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that two men asked him to exit a business and then struck him about the head with a pipe and took his backpack containing textbooks, according to police.

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy reported that a man tried to lure him into his car at about 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in the 6000 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The boy reported that a man asked him for bus fare and talked to him about which bus to take to the CTA Red Line, and that after he gave the man money, he asked him if he wanted candy and said that his car was nearby, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 30 to 30, 5-5 and 150 pounds, and wearing black clothing and a black leather hat.

A WOMAN reported that her wallet was stolen between 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in the 5600 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 78-year-old woman reported that two men prevented her from getting on a bus and that she later discovered that her wallet containing $10 was missing from her purse, according to police.

EMPLOYEES OF THE T-Mobile store, 4809 W. Irving Park Road, reported that a man took a cell phone at about noon Monday, Oct. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that the man unscrewed a display phone valued at $550 and put the item back when the alarm sounded, but that he then walked out of the store with the phone, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a man took his cell phone at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in the 3400 block of North Odell Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that grabbed his iPhone valued at $650 and fled, according to police.

TWO WOMEN WERE arrested on retail theft charges and one woman was arrested on drug charges at about 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Mariano’s store, 5353 N. Elston Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employees reported that a woman took a bottle of rum and left the store with another woman, and responding officers stopped a car leaving the parking lot and found 14 grams of a substance suspected of being marijuana, a scale and a grinder in the vehicle and the occupants were arrested, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Amanda M. Ignas, age 18, and Angelica Castro, age 20, both of the 400 block of South Morgan Street, and as a 17-year-old female.
