Local Crime from 17th District 12-28-13


A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in the 3500 block of West Melrose Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 46-year-old man reported that two men approached him and that one of them displayed a handgun and took his wallet, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to rob him at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in the 3300 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that the men approached him and that one of them displayed a handgun and attempted to rob him, according to police. The man said he tried to wrestle the gun away from the man but that he was attacked by both men, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, in the 3200 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 25-year-old man reported that him as he was getting into his car, two men approached, took his wallet, removed the cash from it and returned it to him, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked during an attempted at about 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in the 4000 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that as he got off a CTA Blue Line train, a man approached him and attempted to steal his bag, and that when he resisted, the man beat him and stabbed in the left leg with a sharp object, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3500 block of West Leland Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that six pieces of jewelry valued at a total of $750 were missing from her bedroom, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his car was damaged at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the Shell gas station, 6400 N. Lincoln Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that a man approached his car with a hammer and smashed the rear driver’s-side window, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he his cell phone was stolen at about 5:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at the Candy Express store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The employee reported that someone stole his iPhone as it was charging near the cash register, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was attacked and robbed at about 11:25 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Bank Financial, 3443 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that as she and a friend were making a deposit from two stores, a man wearing a mask approached her and demanded the three deposit bags, according to police. The woman said that she gave the man the bags and that when she pulled down his mask, he punched her in the face repeatedly, police said. The woman said that another a woman approached and picked up the deposit bags containing approximately $6,600 and that she and the man fled, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized between 6 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. while it was in the parking lot at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered that the front passenger-side window was broken and that two North Face jackets, two Under Armour jackets, a leather jacket and a backpack were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her cell phone was stolen at about 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Lids store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she went to pay for merchandise she discovered that her phone was missing, and a security video from the store shows a man who was behind the woman in line reach near her back pocket and then leave the store, according to police.

A WOMAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of a controlled substance following her arrest at about 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, in the 6400 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a car that was speeding and swerving, the driver was arrested after she failed sobriety tests and the officer found an open bottle of alcohol and a plastic bag containing remnants of a marijuana joint, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Keri L. Slussar, age 20, of the 7300 block of North Oketo Avenue.
