Local Crime from 17th District 4-5-14


A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him during a traffic altercation at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in the 3100 block of West Foster Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that he had an argument with a man who was driving a van and that the man got out of his vehicle with a knife and a club and then pointed a gun at him, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested on aggravated assault charges at about 7:50 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Brickhouse Bar and Grill restaurant, 3152 W. Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The owner of the restaurant reported that an intoxicated man followed him into the back room and attempted to cut him on the neck with a utility knife, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Edson Cabrera, age 46, of the 3400 block of North Central Park Avenue.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 8:20 p.m. Friday, March 28, in the 3700 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 62-year-old man reported that two men approached him from behind and that one of them struck him on the head and took his wallet containing a debit card, $2 and his social security card, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 4860 N. Elston Ave., was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, and 6:50 a.m. the following day, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he arrived at the business he discovered that there was a hole in the office ceiling and that a cell phone valued at $400 and office files were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5100 block of North Hamlin Avenue was burglarized between 2:35 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a digital camera valued at $300, an iPod valued at $150 and a docking station valued at $50 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that three men attempted to scam him at about 2:05 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at his home in the 6200 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 85-year-old man reported that three men in a pickup truck approached him outside his home and that one of them asked if he wanted to have work done on his roof, according to police. The man said that he let the men into his home but that he became suspicious and told them to leave, and that he later discovered that a jewelry box had been searched but that nothing appeared to be missing, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his neighbor’s apartment in a building in the 4700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that his neighbor’s apartment door had been forced open, and the resident reported that three watches valued at $2,025 and an iPad tablet valued at $800 were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of drugs following his arrest at about 3 a.m. Friday, March 28, in the 4400 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After officers stopped a van that was being driven without headlights on, the driver was arrested after they smelled the odor of marijuana in the car and discovered that the man did not have a driver’s license, according to police. The man failed sobriety tests, and officers found a pipe, six bags containing a substance suspected of being marijuana and a bag containing a substance suspected of being cocaine in the car, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Peter S. Hoffer, age 23, of the 1300 block of West Highland Drive, Des Plaines.

A BOY REPORTED that a man broke into his home in the 7000 block of North East Prairie Road at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, according to Lincolnwood police.
The boy reported that he heard someone breaking into the home and that he discovered a man who fled through the front door, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested at about 1:50 p.m. Sunday, March 30, after he allegedly took items from the Lens Crafters store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
A security guard reported that he saw a man take sunglasses from the store, and the suspect was stopped on a Pace bus based on the description that was provided, according to police. The man had a bag containing two pairs of sunglasses valued at $380, two headphones valued at $78, three pairs of undergarments and shoes in his possession, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Charles R. Todd, age 54, of the 2200 block of Ezra Avenue, Zion.

TIRES WERE slashed on several vehicles between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers discovered that two tires had been slashed on a Chevrolet Cruze and that single tires had been slashed on a Honda Accord, a Chrysler Sebring and a Toyota Matrix, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested on drug charges at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the 7200 block of North Tripp Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After officers stopped a vehicle that was speeding, the driver was arrested after he admitted to having 6.5 grams of marijuana in his possession, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Daniel Copil, age 28, of the 7300 block of North Kildare Avenue.
