Local Crime from 16th District 4-16-14


A MAN AND HIS son reported that a man threatened them at about 4:25 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the 7000 block of North Ottawa Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 16-year-old teen reported that he was followed as he was driving home from school and called his father, and that when he arrived home his father confronted the man who was following him, according to police. The teen and his 48-year-old father reported that they followed the man in a car and that the man threatened them and pounded on their door when they returned home, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a gun at about 4 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the 4900 block of West Cuyler Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 37-year-old man reported that he was in an argument with two men and that one of them pointed a gun at him, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Chicago Transit Authority Jefferson Park terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that after he got off a train, two men asked him for a cigarette, then punched him in the face and took $20 from his pocket, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the 3200 block of North Narragansett Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 45-year-old man reported that he was hit by a car and that two men took his wallet containing $80 in cash, according to police. The man was treated at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, police said.

A MAN WAS arrested on public indecency charges at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Chicago Transit Authority Jefferson Park terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers arrested the man after responding to a report of a man lying on the ground and "humping" the ground, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Nathaniel Garrett, age 28, of the 3300 block of Roesner Drive, Markham.

THREE MEN were arrested at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday, April 10, after they allegedly shoplifted items from the Dollar Tree store, 5616 W. Belmont Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that she saw three men place items into their pockets and leave the store without paying for them, according to police. The woman said that she chased the men and that a University of Illinois-Chicago police officer saw the chase, called police and followed the men to a yard in the 3000 block of North Lotus Avenue, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Darius Landowski, age 21, of the 5200 block of West Roscoe Street, Mateusz Slodyczka, age 19, of the 5400 block of West Wellington Avenue, and Sebastian Bobak, age 22, of the 5400 block of West Barry Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4800 block of West Foster Avenue was burglarized between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door was open and that a laptop computer, two gold rings, a gold bracelet, two watches, keys and $1,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A COUPLE reported that their home in the 5100 block of North LaCrosse Avenue was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer, a Nook reader, a 42-inch television set and a crystal statue were missing, according to police.

SEVERAL THEFTS of catalytic converters were reported between April 10 and April 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 5500 and 5600 blocks of North Major Avenue, the 3400 block of North Nottingham Avenue, the 5300 block of West School Street and the 3300 block of North Neva Avenue, according to police.
