Local Crime from 17th District 7-5-14


THREE MEN were shot at about 10 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in the 4300 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 25-year-old man reported that he was standing on a sidewalk with a 21-year-old man and a 29-year-old man when a man shouted gang slogans and fired a gun at them, according to police. Two of the men were admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 4:30 a. m. Friday, June 27, in the 3500 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 25-year-old woman reported that a man took her purse containing her wallet and a tablet and pushed her to the ground, according to police.

THREE TEENAGERS reported that a group of men attempted to rob them at about 11:55 a.m. Friday, June 27, in the 4500 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The three 16-year-old teens reported that a group of three men approached them and one of them asked to use their cell phone, and that when they refused, the man punched one of them in the face and knocked a second teen to the ground, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about midnight Sunday, June 29, in the 4400 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported that a man punched him, knocked him to the ground and took a debit card, his cell phone and $50 in cash, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4400 block of North Bernard Street was burglarized between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday, June 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a safe containing a handgun, $5,000 in cash, documents and social security cards was missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MANAGER of the Crazy 8 store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., reported that a woman scammed the store at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday, June 22, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that his employees told him that a woman asked about items on hold that were supposed to be refunded for cash and said that she had clearance from the corporate office and from him, according to police. The man said that the employees found a bundle of clothes with a note fraudulently signed by him and the district manager and gave the woman $83.07 in cash, police said.

TWO MEN were arrested on drug charges at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, in the 7200 block of North Karlov Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a car whose occupants were not wearing seatbelts, the two were arrested after the officer smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle and found Xanax pills and a total of 19 grams of a substance suspected of being marijuana in the vehicle, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Riaz Samjoo, age 22, of the 5400 block of North Artesian Avenue, and Erwin Hernandez, age 23, of the 5600 block of North Saint Louis Avenue.

A WOMAN was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following her arrest at about 2:25 a.m. Thursday, June 26, in the 3700 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a car that was speeding and changing lanes rapidly, the driver was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of alcohol on her breath, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Kenia S. Guerra, age 21, of the 2500 block of West Foster Avenue.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 4 p.m. Thursday, June 26, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that saw the man conceal two pairs of sunglasses and a necktie valued at $120 and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jorge R. Martinez-Cornelio, age 26, of the 4900 block of North Pulaski Road.

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 3 a.m. Sunday, June 29, in the 5300 block of West Devon Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
After an officer stopped a car that was weaving, the driver was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of alcohol and marijuana on his breath and the man failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Damir Durakovic, age 32, of the 7200 block of West Howard Street.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he saw the man take six designer bags valued at $1,200 and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
