Local Crime from 17th District 8-16-14


A MAN WAS stabbed at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in the 3700 block of North Whipple Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a well being check found the man lying on the ground with a stab wound in the bicep, according to police. The man, who reported that he was stabbed during an argument with another man, was treated at Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic and 5-10.

A TEENAGER reported that he was attacked in an apparent gang-related incident at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in the 4300 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teen reported that he was walking with a 16-year-old friend and that two men approached them from behind them with baseball bats, according to police. The teen said that his friend ran away and that he was knocked down and struck on the head with a bat, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 4:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, in the 4700 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 44-year-old woman reported that a man rode up on a bicycle and took her chain, according to police.

A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in the 3500 block of West Melrose Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that he advertised on Facebook that he was selling his Nike shoes and that when he met a man to make the transaction the man displayed a handgun and took the shoes valued at $250 and $50 in cash, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4300 block of North Albany Avenue was burglarized between 6:20 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that her sister called her and told her that she saw a man leaving her apartment and that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $700 was missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4800 block of North Elston Avenue was burglarized at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the window air conditioning unit had been pushed in and that two global positioning system devices were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3200 block of West Victoria Street was burglarized at about 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered a hole in a wall and that a 42-inch television set and her chihuahua were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS arrested at about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man place several shirts valued at $96 under his shirt and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Raghib Khider, age 22, of the 6500 block of North Kedzie Avenue.

A WOMAN was arrested at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman remove tags from $302.50 worth of men’s and women’s clothing, place them in a bag and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Talat Parveen, age 58, of the 8600 block of North Niles Center Road, Skokie.

A WOMAN was arrested at about 1:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman place 13 pairs of earrings and sunglasses valued at $400 in a stroller and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Mart M. Arrelanos DeVargas, age 31, of the 1600 block of West Morse Avenue.
