Local Crime from 16th District 1-7-15
A TEENAGER was arrested after he allegedly attacked and robbed another teen at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, in the parking lot of the Walgreens store, 4359 N. Central Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 15-year-old youth reported that he was attempting to sell a pair of Robins designer jeans to a teen who had contacted him through the Internet and that the teen asked to try on the jeans inside the Walgreens store before making the purchase, according to police. The youth reported that both entered the store together and that when they left the store, the teen displayed a handgun, struck him in the face with the weapon and took the jeans without paying for them, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 16-year-old male.
A MAN WAS charged with reckless conduct following his arrest at about 10:05 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers arrested the man after they saw him throw a bottle onto the Kennedy Expressway, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Damien D. Snipes, age 25, of the 5600 block of North Central Avenue.
TWO MEN were arrested after they allegedly stole a man’s cell phone on a train that was stopped at the CTAS Blue Line station, 5550 N. Harlem Ave., at about 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in the 5500 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 71-year-old man reported that he and his wife were riding the train toward O’Hare and that two men approached him and one of the men grabbed his cell phone, according to police. The man said that he followed the men out of the station and that he flagged down two retired officers, and police arrested the suspects in the 5600 block of North Neva Avenue, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Mark L. Hicks, age 19, of the 6900 block of South Parnell Avenue, and Jeffrey Mosley, age 25, of the 7800 block of S. South Shore Drive.
AN EMPLOYEE of reported that two men robbed the Plaza Bank, 3555 N. Harlem Ave., at about 3:55 Monday, Dec. 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that two men entered the bank and that one of them displayed a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money from the bank tellers, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked and robbed at about 4 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in the 4700 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man reported that three men got out of a van and that one of the men threatened him with a knife and another man attacked him and took $20 from his pockets, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was abducted from his home in the 3300 block of North Osage Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 16-year-old youth reported that a man forced him out of the basement window of his home at gunpoint and escorted him to a vehicle containing three other men that was parked in the alley, according to police. The teen said that the men beat him and demanded that he call his parents to obtain $250 from them in exchange for his release, police said. The teen said that he called his father, who wrote a check for $250, and that the men released him after they obtained the money, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested following a traffic confrontation at about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, in the 5600 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 30-year-old man reported that he was being followed by an aggressive driver and that the driver approached his vehicle with a tire iron in his hand, according to police. The man flagged down a police vehicle, and the officers stopped the other car and arrested the driver in the 5900 block of West Wilson Avenue after he refused to curb his vehicle and drove through several stop signs, police said.
The suspect was identified as Anthony M. Shockey, age 18, of the 4400 block of West Leland Avenue.
