Local Crime from 16th District 3-11-15


TWO MEN reported that they were attacked at about 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, in the 3200 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The two men, age 28 and 29, reported that they were stopped at the light on Laramie when a vehicle struck their car’s front right quarter panel and the driver shouted to the passenger who was sitting in the back to “Pop him now,” according to police. The 28-year-old man reported that he saw the man in the back point a gun at them and he accelerated through the intersection and they drove to a gas station in the 3600 block of North Laramie Avenue to report the incident, police said.

THE SAME MAN is believed to be responsible for stealing bottles of alcohol from the Jewel-Osco store, 7342 W. Foster Ave., in separate incidents, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

An employee reported that he saw a man on a surveillance video place 27 bottles of whiskey valued at $485.73 in a shopping cart and leave the store without paying for the items at about 9:10 p.m. Sunday, March 1, according to police. The employee reported that at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, the same man placed about 48 bottles of alcohol valued at $715.64 into a cart and left the store without paying for the items, police said.

A TEENAGER reported that a man exposed himself to her at about 3 p.m. Monday, March 9, in the 5400 block of North Natoma Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The 14-year-old girl reported that as she was walking home, a white mini-van with a black stripe stopped and she saw that the man was masturbating, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her boyfriend allegedly attacked her at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Edgebrook Motel, 6401 W. Touhy Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The 25-year-old woman reported that during an argument her boyfriend strangled her with a phone cord, pushed her into a refrigerator and a dresser, causing injury to her head and left leg, and then drove her about three blocks from the motel, punched her on the back of the head and pushed her out of the car, according to police. The woman was treated at Lutheran General Hospital, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about midnight Saturday, March 7, in the 5000 block of West Agatite Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The 42-year-old woman reported that a man bumped into her and took her purse containing $320 in cash and credit cards, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE of the Meade Construction firm reported that a generator valued at $2,800 was stolen from a supply truck between midnight and 6:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, while it was parked in the 5100 block of North Mason Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The man reported that he discovered that a lock was damaged, according to police.

EMPLOYEES reported that a man attempted to rob the Shell gas station, 4001 N. Laramie Ave., at about 9:35 a.m. Thursday, March 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

A 38-year-old employee reported that a man wearing half of a ski mask asked the price of two packs of cigarettes, said that they cost too much and pulled back his jacket to reveal a handgun, according to police. The employee reported that he ran to the garage section and shouted for help, and a second employee reported that the man tried to open the cash register and then fled when he grabbed a baseball bat, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1 a.m. Monday, March 2, in the 6100 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The man reported that as he was riding his bicycle, a man struck him on the back of the head and he lost consciousness, according to police. The man reported that he regained consciousness at Community First Medical Center and discovered that his pants had been cut and that $500 in cash was missing, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that Mo Dailey’s Pub and Grille, 6070 N. Northwest Hwy., was burglarized between 1:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The employee reported that when she arrived at the business she discovered that the back door was open and that $3,100 in cash was missing from a safe and cash drawers, according to police. The woman also reported that a 2004 Ford F-150 belonging to the owner of the business was missing, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE of the Jewel-Osco store, 4729 N. Central Ave., reported that a woman attempted to stab him with a syringe at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The 31-year-old man reported that a woman attempted to stab him with a needle because he had caught her shoplifting, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in the 3200 block of North Linder Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The 58-year-old woman reported that a man used a knife to cut a strap on her purse but that she shouted for help and the man fled, according to police.

Meade

A MAN REPORTED that four wheels valued at $1,200 were stolen from his BMW between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday, March 7, while it was parked in the 4500 block of North Meade Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 5700 block of West Cullom Avenue was burglarized between 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, and 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The woman reported that she discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a saw and a storage box were missing from the garage and that gloves were missing from her vehicle, according to police.
