Local Crime from 17th District 1-2-2016




TWO MEN ARE being questioned in connection with a series of robberies on the Northwest Side, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
A 23-year-old man reported that as he was walking in the 3800 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, two men got out of a dark BMW and one of the men displayed a handgun and took a bag of food from him, according to police.
A 43-year-old man reported that he was robbed at about 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, in the 5400 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to the police. The man reported that as he was sitting in his car, two men got out of a dark BMW and one of the men displayed a handgun and took his wallet and one of them drove away in his Hyundai Sonata, police said.
A 52-year-old man reported that he was robbed at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, in the 3600 block of West Berteau Avenue, according to police. The man reported that two men got out of a dark BMW and one of them took his car keys, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:55 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at the River Park Motel, 6060 N. Lincoln Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that he had arranged to meet a body massage therapist on a Web site and that three men entered his room and took his iPhone, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 3222 N. Kimball Ave., was robbed at about midnight Thursday, Dec. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 62-year-old man reported that three men entered the business and one of them ordered food and that when he opened the cash register a second man displayed a handgun and took $300 from the register, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the 4900 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that five men approached him and took his wallet containing $400, his driver’s license and four credit cards, according to police.

A BREAK-IN was discovered at the Lowe’s store, 3601 W. Touhy Ave., at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer discovered a semi-trailer containing appliances with its rear door open and plastic and metal debris on the ground near the trailer doors and that a service door had been broken in, according to police. An employee reported that the trailer contained appliances that were to be recycled for parts, police said.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 4:35 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man take clothing items valued at $96 into the fitting room and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jaiman R. Patel, age 18, of the 4000 block of West Lawrence Avenue.

TWO PEOPLE were arrested after they allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 2:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw a man use nail clippers to cut the security sensor from a coat valued at $170 and a woman place a container of skin cream valued at $59 in her purse and that the two left the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as William Parra, age 49, and Natalid Buitrago, age 29, of the 2500 block of North Paulina Street.
