Local Crime from 17th District 3-19-2016




A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly robbed a woman at about 2:35 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Washout Inn 4 laundromat, 3459 W. Montrose Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 45-year-old woman reported that the woman took her cell phone valued at $500 from her sweatshirt, according to police. The woman and a witness reported that they chased the woman to the 3500 block of West Montrose Avenue where a struggle occurred and that the suspect punched the woman in the eye and the nose and struck the 26-year-old witness with a pipe before she fled with the phone, police said.
Officers discovered a suspect who matched the description that was provided, and she was arrested after she was identified, police said. The woman allegedly had attempted to sell the phone at the Boost Mobile store, 3416 W. Montrose Ave., before her arrest, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Ashley Taylor, age 32, of the 4400 block of North Drake Avenue.

TWO WOMEN reported that a man threatened them with a gun at about 11:40 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the 5200 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The two women, age 21 and 20, reported that a man wearing a face mask knocked on the window of the car they were in and pointed a gun at them and that they drove away, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested on assault charges at about noon Saturday, March 12, in the 3200 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 26-year-old woman reported that as she was driving with a 27-year-old woman in the 3800 block of West Fullerton Avenue, a man cut them off in traffic, and that when she honked the horn, the man pointed a gun at them, according to police. The woman said that the man followed them onto Pulaski, where he was arrested, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Angel L. Roman, age 61, of the 1300 block of North Kedzie Avenue.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 7, in the 3900 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that as he was in Independence Park with his children, two men got out of a car and approached him and that one of the men displayed a knife and the other displayed a handgun, according to police. The man said that he fought with the men and that when the gun was dropped to the ground he fled with his children, police said.

A MAN WAS arrested on aggravated assault charges at about 10:35 a.m. Thursday, March 10, in the 3400 block of West Addison Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 28-year-old man reported that a man shouted at him and, threw a soccer ball-sized rock at him and displayed a knife, according to police. The man said that he saw the man enter a store on Addison, and the man suspect arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Luis E. Ramirez, age 49, of the 1600 block of North Mozart Street.

A MAN REPORTED that his girlfriend deliberately struck his car with hers at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in the 3900 block of North Avondale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported that following an argument with his girlfriend he got into his car and that the woman sideswiped the driver’s side of his car and then reversed and struck his vehicle, causing the rear window to break, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that three men stole his car at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in the 3600 block of West Argyle Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that the men approached him from behind and that one of them pointed a gun at his head and took his car keys and that the three fled in his 2015 Dodge Journey, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly stole a woman’s purse at about 5 a.m. Monday, March 7, in the 4700 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 62-year-old woman reported that a man grabbed her purse containing $2 and pushed her to the ground, according to police. Officers found the suspect in the 3400 block of West Leland Avenue based on the description, and he was arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Paul J. Fletcher, age 26, of the 3100 block of West Cullom Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in the 4700 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 43-year-old woman reported that a man pushed her to the ground and took her purse containing a checkbooks and checks valued at $546 and $300 in cash, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the 6200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 43-year-old man reported that as he was walking through a parking lot, two men asked him for a cigarette and then struck him on the head and pushed him to the ground, knocking him out, according to police. The man said that when he regained consciousness several hours later he discovered that his wallet containing credit cards was missing, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she found bullet shells at about 5 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in the 6100 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 46-year-old woman reported that she heard gunshots at about 1:40 a.m. and that she discovered five empty bullet casings near her garbage can, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 1:05 a.m. Monday, March 14, in the 6700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle that was speeding, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Gary N. Montaigne, age 42, of the 3000 block of Scott Avenue, McHenry.

A WOMAN was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia following her arrest at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the 6900 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer stopped a vehicle with one working headlight that changed lanes without using a signal and then made an improper right turn from the left turn lane, according to police. The driver was arrested after the officer smelled the odor of alcohol and marijuana and discovered a glass jar containing approximately 10 grams of marijuana, two glass smoking pipes and a rolled marijuana cigar and she failed sobriety tests, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Ashley R. Yalibat, age 27, of the 2500 block of West Foster Avenue.

A WOMAN was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following her arrest at about 11:25 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the 7200 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
Following a two-vehicle traffic accident at McCormick and Touhy Avenue, the driver who caused the collision was arrested after she told the officer that she fell asleep at the wheel and she failed sobriety tests, according to police. No injuries were reported, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Anna Liza Ylagan, age 51, of the 6000 block of North Richmond Street.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 7300 block of North Kenneth Avenue was burglarized between 9:45 a.m. and 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered the front door had been broken in and that $750 in cash and jewelry were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman conceal several clothing items valued at $483 inside her jacket and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jacqueline Mahatma, age 56, of the 800 block of South Park Terrace.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the man conceal a shirt valued at $20 inside his jacket and leave the store without paying for the item, according to police.
The man was identified by police as Terrance T. Bramlett, age 21, of the 6000 block of North Francisco Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle between 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, and 8:45 a.m. Thursday, March 10, in the 7300 block of North Keystone Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that discovered that the catalytic converter valued at $300 had been removed her 2008 Kia Sportage, according to police.
