Local Crime from 16th District 4-20-2016




A MAN REPORTED that his neighbor attempted to run him over at about 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in the 7500 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man reported that he was riding his bicycle and his neighbor’s wife was driving a truck and that her husband grabbed the steering wheel and pressed on the gas and swerved in his direction, according to police. The man said that he rode his bike onto the sidewalk to avoid being hit, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed and that his car was stolen at about 6 p.m. Monday, April 18, in the 5900 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 56-year-old man reported that as he was getting groceries out of the trunk of his car, two men displayed handguns and that one of the men took his keys and groceries and fled in his 2012 Mercedes Benz and the second man followed him in a car with heavy front damage, according to police.

EMPLOYEES reported that Happy Foods, 6783 N. Northwest Hwy., was robbed at about 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employees reported that a man displayed a handgun and took $719 from the cash register, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, in the 5400 block of North Nagle Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that a man wearing a mask displayed a handgun and took his cell phone, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 2 a.m. Thursday, April 14, in the 5300 block of West Berenice Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that a car stopped and the passenger got out, displayed a handgun and told him to come closer but that he fled, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested on theft charges at about 9:10 a.m. Sunday, April 17, in the 5100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers stopped a man who was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and discovered that the man had 29 debit cards in his jacket, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Venyon T. Flucker, age 39, of the 5800 block of West Rice Street.

FOUR MEN were arrested on criminal defacement charges at about 3 a.m. Sunday, April 17, in the 6900 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who responded to a report of four men carrying spray paint cans stopped a car and smelled spray paint in the car, according to police. Officers found cans of spray paint, a CTA Blue Line banner, masks and a camera containing images of a CTA Blue Line train that had been defaced in the car, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Thomas J. Lapage, age 25, of the 500 block of South Harmony Road, Oregon, Ill., Thomas J. Sturgeon, age 24, of the 6600 block of 124th Street, Berwyn, Ivan R. Lopez Jr., age 24, of the 5100 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, and Jorge L. Coya, age 35, of the 700 block of 6th Avenue, San Francisco, Calif.

AN EMPLOYEE of the CVS Pharmacy, 6417 W. Higgins Ave., reported that a man took items at about 9:15 a.m. Monday, April 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she saw a man take baby formula valued at $300 and anti-smoking patches valued at $300 and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 6500 block of North Newcastle Avenue was burglarized between 10 p.m. Saturday, April 16, and 8 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that tools valued at $1,775 and a "jump start" device valued at $125 were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that cash was stolen from her home in the 5600 block of West Wilson Avenue between March 13 and April 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that $3,000 in cash was missing from a box in her home, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5200 block of North Lind Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that his son told him that silver certificates valued at $40 and $340 in cash were missing, according to police.

THEFTS of vehicles were reported between April 11 and April 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 7000 block of West Melrose Street, the 8600 block of West Summerdale Avenue, the 3700 block of North Lockwood Avenue, the 5000 block of North Normandy Avenue, the 6100 block of West Lawrence Avenue, the 5000 block of West Carmen Avenue and the 3200 block of North Panama Avenue, according to police.
