Local Crime from 17th District 5-14-2016




A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at him at about 10:15 a.m. Sunday, May 8, in the 2800 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that following an argument, a man fired three shots at him and drove away in a Nissan, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at his car at about 6:05 p.m. Monday, May 9, in the 4400 block of North Kasson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that as he was driving with two other men, a man in a Toyota that was following them fired a gun at them, according to police. The bullets damaged the back window, the windshield and two tires of the car, and the man he drove to the police station, police said.
Officers discovered vehicles that were damaged by bullets in the 4400 block of Kasson and the 4500 block of North Keeler Avenue and that a window of a residence in the 4500 block of Kasson also was struck by a bullet, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her husband cut her with a knife at about 4:50 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at a home in the 3200 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old woman reported that during an argument, her husband choked her and cut her on the hand with a knife, causing a deep laceration, according to police. The woman was treated at Community First Medical Center, police said.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, in the 4200 block of North Troy Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old woman reported that two men displayed knives at her and took her backpack containing a tablet and her wallet containing credit cards, according to police.

A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 8:25 a.m. Friday, May 6, in the 4300 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that as he was waiting for a bus, a man got out of a car, displayed a handgun and took his backpack containing a cell phone valued at $600, books and sandals, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his car was stolen at about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, in the 4700 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that as he was standing next to his BMW, a man displayed a handgun, took his car keys and fled in the vehicle with three other men, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday, May 8, as he was riding on a bus in the 4500 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that a teenager sat behind him and a friend when them, displayed a handgun, took his cell phone valued at $600 and left the bus with other teenagers, according to police.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Shell gas station, 5155 N. Kimball Ave., robbed at about 5 a.m. Thursday, May 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that two men entered the store, threatened her and took several lottery tickets and five packs of cigarettes, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 9 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store, 4771 N. Elston Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old woman reported that she stopped at the store on her way home from the Rivers Casino and that when she opened her car door, a man approached the car, displayed a handgun and took her purse containing her wallet and $1,200 in cash, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3 a.m. Sunday, May 8, in the 3400 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 43-year-old man reported that a woman offered him sex for money and that when he told her that he had been drinking alcohol, the woman pulled him into the alley and a second woman took his wallet containing $400, according to police.

A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly stole a cell phone at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 4755 N. Kimball Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 27-year-old employee reported that a man reached over the counter, took his cell phone and fled, according to police. The man said that he chased the man to a parking lot and that during a struggle the man dropped the phone, police said. The suspect was arrested in the 4800 block of North Christiana Avenue based on the description that was provided, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Keyvon D. Kimbrough, age 22, of the 600 block of North Waller Avenue.

TWO MEN were arrested after they caused a disturbance at about 9:10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, in the 4500 block of North Kenneth Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to several reports of a man shouting and chasing another man with a knife, according to police. Several residents reported that the men frequently fight and cause disturbances, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Robert A. Fiala, age 48, and Talalilo K. Benedith, age 24, both of the Kenneth Avenue address.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3300 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue was burglarized between 6:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Monday, May 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $500, an iPad mini valued at $250 and a jewelry box containing two necklaces, a bracelet, a ring and costume jewelry were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3700 block of North Pulaski Road was burglarized between 10:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door had been forced open and that a laptop computer valued at $1,000, a laptop computer valued at $2,000, a desktop computer valued at $1,200, a television set valued at $1,000, jewelry valued at $1,000, a Play Station 4 video game console valued at $400 and a guitar valued at $500 were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3200 block of North Kenneth Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door had been forced open and that a safe containing $3,000 in cash, a passport and jewelry worth $3,000 to $4,000 was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3500 block of West Cullom Avenue was burglarized between 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer, gym shoes and $10,000 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3200 block of North Troy Street was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the back door had been opened and that an antique jewelry box containing 40 to 50 pieces of jewelry was missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN REPORTED that six mailboxes were broken into between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, in the lobby of a property in the 7100 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.

AN EMPLOYEE of the Shell gas station, 6400 N. Lincoln Ave., reported that a taxi cab driver pumped gasoline into his vehicle and left without paying at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, according to Lincolnwood police.

A MAN REPORTED that items were stolen from his vehicle between May 2 and May 6 while it was being serviced at Loeber Motors, 4301 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that a saw, two drills, a pipe cutter and a toolbox were stolen from his Mercedes-Benz, according to police.
