Jeff Fest Returns for 16th Year

Jefferson Park community happening features

food, music, a community stage,

kids’ activities and NEW afternoon wine tastings

…PLUS weekend display of “PhotoArt” contest finalists

With its tidy homes and cozy ambience, Jefferson Park might well be Chicago’s most quintessential neighborhood. On Friday-Sunday, July 29-31, the northwest side enclave will celebrate the community at its 16th annual Jeff Fest (Jefferson Park Arts & Music Festival).

Held in Jefferson Memorial Park, 4822 N. Long Ave. (just west of 4800 N Milwaukee Ave. and a block from the Jefferson Park Blue Line stop), fest highlights include both a music and ‘community’ entertainment stages, food, art & craft vendors, and a Kids’ Zone area (with art activities and inflatables) from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

NEW in 2016: “Wine Tasting in the Park” on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 3:00-6:00 p.m. With the purchase of a $20 daily wine tasting pass, ticket holders will be able to sample up to 15 varietals in a special area in the park.

There will also be a display of the top 50 images from the Chicago Creative Coalition’s 4th annual “PhotoArt” fine art photography contest. Juried winners will be announced on Saturday. A ‘People’s Choice’ winner (voted on by visitors) will be announced on Sunday.

Also on display will be recent winners in the Student Division. That division showcases student photographers from kindergarten through 8th grade.

Among the music stage performers are popsters 16 Candles, the ambient/acoustic sounds of Little Egypt, and tribute bands paying homage to (among others) Led Zeppelin, Journey, The Who and Pearl Jam.

Jeff Fest hours are: 6:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday; 2:00-10:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday. (Kids age 12 and under and seniors age 65 and older are free.)

A $5 gate admission for adults benefits the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce.
