Local Crime from 17th District 8-13-2016





A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, in the 5100 block of North Keeler Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that as he was walking through Gompers Park, a man asked him to use his cell phone, and that when he refused, a group of men surrounded him and a man implied that he had a gun and took $30 from him, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at the David’s Food and Liquor store, 3158 W. Montrose Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 47-year-old man reported that he was in the store with a friend and that a man tried to pull off his chain but failed, according to police. The man said that a second man pulled off his chain and punched him in the face and that the two fought until the men fled the store, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that of a man attempted to rob the Chase Bank, 3225 W. Addison St., at about 12:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old employee reported that a man handed her a note demanding money and she asked him if he was a bank customer and that he continued to demand money until a second employee asked what was wrong and the man fled, according to police. Officers later placed a man into custody based on the description that was provided, but it was not known if the man, who is homeless, had been charged, police said.

AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man robbed the Boost Mobile store, 3748 N. Kimball Ave., at about 11:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and took $500 from the cash register, according to police. The employee said that the man forced him to the back of the store, knocked him to the floor and tied his arms, police said. Officers discovered the gun that the man left behind in the store, police said.

TWO MEN reported that they were robbed at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in the 3000 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old and 27-year-old men reported that a man in a sport utility displayed a handgun at took the wallet of one of them and that a second man punched one of them in the face, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in the 4100 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that three men surrounded him and that one of the men displayed a handgun and a second man struck him in the face with a pipe and took his cell phone and his wallet, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, in the 3500 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 57-year-old man reported that two women approached him and that one of them sprayed him with a chemical spray and took his wallet and his cell phone, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the 4600 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that as he was riding his bicycle two women approached him and one of them displayed a handgun and took $12 from him, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 6:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, as he was driving in the 3400 block of West Sunnyside Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 28-year-old man reported that he pulled over to allow a sport utility vehicle that was being driven erratically behind him to pass, and that the SUV stopped and a man got out, displayed gang signs and struck him in the face with a pipe, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6100 block of North Tripp Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was open and that a laptop computer valued at $775 and an iPad valued at $480 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that a shed in the yard of his home in the 5900 block of North Jersey Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, and 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that a bicycle, a leaf blower, an edger and two vacuum cleaners were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4500 block of North Knox Avenue was burglarized while she slept between 12:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she woke up she discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that $3 and candy were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4300 block of North Sacramento Avenue was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a side window was open and that $700 in cash was missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN REPORTED that a bicycle frame and a rear wheel were stolen from the parking lot of the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., between 10 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he locked the front wheel of his Fuji bicycle valued at $150 to a bicycle rack and that when he returned he discovered that the bicycle frame was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN was charged with driving without a driver’s license following her arrest at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in the 6700 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
An officer responding to the scene of an automobile accident arrested one of the drivers after the officer discovered that the driver had been operating the vehicle without a driver’s license, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Marie E. Moreno, age 27, of the 6100 block of North Seeley Avenue.

TWO WOMEN were arrested after they allegedly shoplifted items from the Kohl’s store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw one of the women take clothing items and two cell phone cases valued at $114 and another woman take clothing items, a cell phone and cosmetics valued at $92 into a fitting room and then leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Alexis J. Hood, age 24, of the 4100 block of North Whipple Street, and Rose J. Foster, age 45, of the 5300 block of West Foster Avenue.
