If you like fests, Jeff Park place to be Labor Day weekend
The Milwaukee-Lawrence and Elston-Lawrence commercial areas will be home to three festivals over the Labor Day weekend.
About 30,000 people are expected for the 36th annual “Taste of Polonia” festival which will be held Friday through Monday, Sept. 2 to 5, at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave. Polish food vendors, 30 bands, merchants, carnival rides and games, a casino and a display on the area’s history are among the planned activities.

Jefferson Park also will be home to the seventh annual “Chicago Fringe Festival,” which will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, to Sunday, Sept. 11, at various locations around the business district. The festival features performance groups from around the world, and it includes a mix of live shows, including comedies, dramas, musicals and children’s entertainment.

In North Mayfair, the inaugural “Cider and Sliders” street festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3 and 4, in the 4800 and 4900 blocks of North Elston Avenue. It feature arts and crafts, live music and a wine and cider tasting event.

Also, the following weekend will feature the inaugural “Throwback Music Fest” on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 9 to 11, on Milwaukee Avenue between Elston Avenue and Peterson Avenue. It includes live music, children’s activities and a craft beer tasting.
