Local Crime from 17th District 9-24-2016





A MAN REPORTED that a man stole his car at gunpoint at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the 3600 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that a man whom he remembered from Orr High School approached his car, displayed a handgun and entered the car, and that he got out of the car and ran away and the man drove away in his 1996 Dodge, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the 5000 block of North Springfield Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old woman reported that as she walked past three men, two of them displayed handguns and they took her purse, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the 4700 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that a car stopped and a man displayed a handgun and a woman in the car took his glasses, according to police.

A MAN WAS stabbed at about 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, as he was riding in a car in the 4700 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man’s 22-year-old girlfriend reported that as she was stopped at a red light with the 22-year-old man, three men approached the passenger side of the vehicle and stabbed him twice in the arm, according to police. The woman drove the man to Community First Hospital, and he was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 4:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the 3400 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 57-year-old man reported that after he passed a vehicle that was being driven slowly, the car drove around him and stopped, causing him to crash into the rear, and a man got out of the car and struck him on the hand with a pipe, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that a man exposed himself at about 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept 21, at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 4821 N. Kedzie Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that a man entered the bathroom and she heard screaming, and that when she went to investigate the man opened the door, exposed his penis and asked her if she wanted to have sex with him, according to police. The woman reported that after the man was told to leave the restaurant he threatened her with a bottle and that he threw the bottle at a man outside the business, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that two men broke into his home in the 3200 block of North Troy Street at about 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that he was awakened by a noise and he two men in his kitchen, according to police. The man said that he sprayed the men with a chemical spray and they fled, police said.

A MAN REPORTED that two men broke into his neighbor’s home in the 6100 block of North Cicero Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 58-year-old man reported that he saw a man using a crowbar on a window and then a second men exit through the window carrying a bag, according to police. The house had been ransacked, but the owner did not find anything missing, police said.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4900 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized between 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that 10 gold rings and a gold necklace were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3500 block of West Montrose Avenue was burglarized at about 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the rear door was open and that a bicycle valued at $250, a suitcase valued at $110 and bottles of wine valued at $200 were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4400 block of North Spaulding Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home he she discovered that four bracelets and three necklaces valued at $2,400 and a television set antenna valued at $40 were missing, according to police.

LINCOLNWOOD

A MAN WAS arrested after two men reported that he attacked them with a knife at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the 7200 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to Lincolnwood police.
The 46-year-old and 40-year-old men reported that they were sleeping under a bridge west of the Chicago River and that they woke up when a man smashed a beer bottle near them, according to police. The men said that the man struck one of the men on the leg and then picked up a stick and began to poke it at them, police said.
The men reported that the man threw the stick into the river and began to lunge at them with a knife and that they fled and the man chased them, according to police. The men told responding officers that the man was hiding in bushes in Centennial Park, and the officers arrested the man, police said
The suspect was identified by police as Benito Giles-Gaspar, age 31, of the 1600 block of West Sherwin Avenue.

A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized around 10:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, while it was parked in the 6800 block of North Keeler Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered that his wallet valued at $150 was missing, according to police

A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized between 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, and 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, while it was parked in the 6700 block of North Karlov Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered that a bag containing $20 in change, a pocket knife valued at $20 and an iPhone charger valued at $30 were missing, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his car was burglarized between 12 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, while it was parked in the 6800 block of North Tripp Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he discovered that a tire pressure gauge, a flashlight and a computer projector valued at between $200 and $300 were missing, according to police.
