Jefferson Park Chamber’s “An Evening at the Cabaret”

The Jefferson Park of Chamber of Commerce will hold “An Evening at the Cabaret” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, at the Copernicus Center Annex, 5214 W. Lawrence Ave.
The award-winning Acts of Kindness Cabaret will be performing. A cash bar opens at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Proceeds benefit chamber, including a high school scholarship program.

Jefferson Park Community Garage Sale

A Jefferson Park community garage sale and flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in the Copernicus Center parking lot, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave.
About 30 families will be selling clothes, books and other items. The event is sponsored by the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association and Copernicus Foundation.
On the same day the Jefferson Park “Winter Sunday Market” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the center’s annex, 5214 W. Lawrence Ave. Bakes goods, vegetables, meats, eggs, honey, coffee, tamales, tacos, crafts, soaps and children’s books will be among the items for sale.
A cash bar will be open inside the center. Admission is free for both events.

Input Sought on Jeff Park CTA Artwork

A community meeting seeking input on the design of artwork that will be displayed at the Jefferson Park CTA Terminal will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave.
The public artwork will be part of a $25 million renovation of the terminal.
The transit agency has chosen artist Jamie Pawlus for the project. The meeting had been scheduled for May 1, but it was postponed.

Meeting set on Independence Park Library

A community meeting on the design of the new Independence Park Library will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 15, at Murphy School, 3539 W. Grace St.
The library will be built on the site of a former funeral home at 4022 N. Elston Ave, and the project involves a partnership between the Chicago Public Library and the Chicago Housing Authority, as apartments will be constructed above the library.

Chicago Fringe Festival

The Chicago Fringe Festival will hold “5/Fifths of Ghostbusters” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Filament Theater, 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave.
The show will feature five ensembles which will reinterpret the classic movie. Proceeds benefit the festival, which will be held Aug. 30 to Sept. 10 at various locations in Jefferson Park.
Tickets are $35 through Monday, May 15, and $40 after that date. Tickets are available at www.chicagofringe.org.

Spring Fair at Vaughn Occupational High School

Vaughn High School will hold a spring fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the school, 4355 N. Linder Ave.
The event will include music, carnival games, vendors, a bounce house and food.

Volunteers sought for Six Corners BBQ Fest

The Six Corners Association is seeking volunteers for its annual “BBQ Fest” which will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 10-11, near Milwaukee Avenue and Irving Park Road. Registration for volunteers is available at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4caaa62ca3fd0-sixcorners.
The festival’s musical lineup will include Anthony and the Tramps, Manny Torres, Six String Crossing, Junkyard Groove, Handsome Dave and the Ravens, the Blind Staggers, Lurrie Bell, Akasha, Mike Wheeler and Wax Works.
