Local Crime from 16th District 5-17-17
A MAN WAS shot at about 1:45 a.m. Friday, May 12, in the 7000 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a 30-year-old man in stable condition with a gunshot wound at Community First Hospital and discovered a vehicle with several holes and a broken window parked in the ambulance bay, according to police.
A witness reported that the man was arguing with another man at the Village Tavern, 6912 W. Belmont Ave., and that after they left the bar in a vehicle, a white Chevrolet Tahoe drove next to their vehicle and fired five gunshots at them at them before the vehicle drove away north on Sayre Avenue, police said.
The man was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the 7 Eleven store, 5600 W. Irving Park Road, reported that two men robbed him at gunpoint at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that two men entered the store and that one of men jumped over the counter, demanded that he open the register and took $500 in cash while the other man pointed a handgun at him, took 10 bottles of alcohol and an unknown number of cigarettes packs and they exited the store, according to police. The employee reported that the liquor and cigarettes were valued at $400, police said.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to rob her at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, in the 5200 block of North La Crosse Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year-old woman reported that she parked her vehicle in front of her home and a man asked her for money, and that when she said no, he asked for her purse and tried to take it away from her hands, according to police. The woman reported that the man pushed her to the ground and ran away after she started to scream, police said.
TWO MEN were arrested for allegedly attacking a man at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 41-year-old man reported that he had an argument with two men and one of the men punched him in the side of his face and knocked him to the ground, according to police. The man reported that while he was on the ground, both men allegedly punched and kicked him and one of the men took his cell phone before they fled, police said.
Officers reported that a witness recorded the incident on a cell phone and played the video for them and the two men were arrested after they were identified according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Shane A. Diehl-Bremer, age 19, of the 4800 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, Daniel J. Clavette, age 22, of the 1800 block of Country Drive, Grayslake.
A MAN WAS arrested following an incident at about 5:15 a.m. Sunday, May 14, in the 5200 block of West Dakin Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of people fighting and a man approached their vehicle, yelled at them, allegedly punched the passenger side mirror of their vehicle, grabbed onto the vehicle and would not let go, according to police. The officers reported that the man placed both of his feet under the rear passenger wheel of the vehicle and told them to run him over and the man was arrested after he disobeyed several commands to remove his feet from under the squad car, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Julio J. Acanda, age 23, of the 1600 block of North Keystone Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that his work vehicle was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, in a parking in the 4200 block of North Neenah Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his work truck he discovered that the gang box valued at $100 containing three chain saws valued at $1,800 was missing from the bed of the truck, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized at about 7 a.m. Monday, May 8, in the 5000 block of North Austin Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his van he discovered that the rear window and lock had been broken and that that two battery-operated drills valued at $180, two right angle electric drills valued at $400, an electric saw valued at $120 and electrical copper wire valued at $120 were missing, according to police.
THEFTS of vehicles were reported between May 9 and May 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicles were reported stolen in the 8500 block of West Catalpa Avenue and the 6400 block of West Irving Park Road, according to police.
