Local Crime from 17th District 6-30-18
SHOTS WERE fired at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday, June 23, in the 6000 block of North Kedvale Avenue and the 4000 block of West Peterson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that a white Audi with black tinted windows was chasing a black sport utility vehicle and that the passenger in the Audi fired at the SUV on Kedvale, according to police. Officers recovered one spent bullet casing on Kedvale and five more casings on Peterson, police said.
A MAN WAS shot at about 11 p.m. Monday, June 18, in the 4700 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that as he approached his girlfriend’s parked vehicle two men approached and one pointed a handgun at him and demanded his belongings, according to police. The man reported that he slapped the firearm down and ran away and he heard two shots and discovered that he was shot in the right ankle, and his girlfriend drove him to Swedish Covenant Hospital in serious condition, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested on assault charges at about noon Friday, June 22, near the Family Dollar store, 3239 W. Lawrence Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An employee reported that a man allegedly took a case of energy drinks valued at about $48 and ran out the store, and a police officer saw a man looking through store windows prior to the theft, according to police.
The officer chased the man through an alley and rear building stairs in the 4700 block of North Sawyer Avenue, and the man charged at her while running back down the stairs and she deployed her electroshock weapon and the man was arrested, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Australia Robinson, age 44, of the 2000 block of West Lawrence Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was kidnapped at about 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, in the 3500 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that he was walking on Montrose when a black colored older model sedan pulled alongside and four men forced him in and brought him to the third floor of an unknown apartment building, according to police. The man reported that they struck him repeatedly with sticks and boards and asked him questions, and that they let him go after 4 hours and his relative called him an ambulance to Swedish Covenant Hospital the next morning after returning home and discovering he had been beaten, police said. The man allegedly could not remember the questions he was asked, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the Taqueria Los Flacos restaurant, 3818 W. Lawrence Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An employee reported that a man entered the business and shouted curse words and racial slurs at people in the restaurant before he allegedly punched and shattered a glass door and punched him, according to police. The man was arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Allen Erenberg, age 38, of the 0 to 100 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
TWO MEN reported that their vehicle was stolen at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday, June 24, in the 3200 block of North Kilbourn Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The men reported that they exited their 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer to urinate in an alley when a grey Dodge Caravan with a "Lyft" rideshare sign in the front window pulled behind them and five men exited, and two men pointed handguns and asked about their gang affiliation before one man punched one of them in the face and took the Chevrolet as the other four men re-entered the Dodge and drove away, according to police.
Later that day at about 9:15 a.m., officers were called to a parked vehicle blocking an alley in the 3400 block of North Keeler and discovered that it was the same stolen Chevrolet, and the vehicle was returned, police said.
All men were described as white/Hispanic and age 30 to 40.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in the 4300 block of North Monticello Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. Saturday, June 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man reported that he heard a noise in the basement and found the basement door forced open and a man trying to leave with his bicycle valued at $300, and he held the man on scene until officers arrived and arrested him, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jarvis Brinkley, age 25, of the 3700 block of West Concord Place.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4800 block of North Avers Avenue was burglarized between 2 and 6 p.m. Sunday, June 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been unlocked and that a silver bracelet valued at $300, a necklace valued at $1,000, and three gold rings valued at $1,000 each were missing, according to police.
