A 36-year-old suspected gang member was in critical condition after being shot several times in his torso during a possible drug-related incident at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, in the 5200 block of North Parkside Avenue in Gladstone Park, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers discovered the man lying in the 5200 block of North Northwest Highway with gunshot wounds, according to police.
The man told officers that he had been shot near his van that was parked on Parkside, but the man refused to cooperate further and was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said.
Officers later found a fired bullet inside a side panel of the van and five spent casings on a sidewalk along Parkside, police said. In addition, several white pills were found inside the van, police said.
Witnesses reported that they saw the apparent shooter, who was described only as a black male, flee on foot carrying a bag, police said.
No one was in custody as of press time, according to police.
