Local Crime from 16th District 8-25-18
A MAN WAS shot at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the 4800 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a man who had been shot and discovered a 21-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, right underarm, left leg and buttocks, according to police.
A witness reported that while he was driving his vehicle, he heard multiple gunshots and saw the man fall to the ground in the middle of the street and the shooter then fired a handgun at him and fled north toward the 3500 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to police. A second witness reported that after the man had been shot, another man dragged the body from the street and onto the sidewalk before he fled, police said.
The man was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition and treated for a collapsed lung and a spinal cord injury, police said.
The alleged shooter was described as white/Hispanic with a beard.
A MAN REPORTED that three men attacked him at about 4:10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, in the 3800 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that while he was driving his vehicle, three men standing on the sidewalk gestured toward him and indicated they wanted to fight, and that after he exited his vehicle and pulled a metal pipe out of his car, the men took the pipe from him and struck him in the head, according to police.
The man was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital in serious condition, police said.
A TEENAGER reported that a man threatened her with a handgun at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, in the parking lot of the Mayfair Marathon gas station, 4721 N. Elston Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teenager reported that a man was yelling profanities at her from inside his silver Jeep Grand Cherokee, and that when she approached him at the window, he pointed a hand gun at her before driving away north on North Kostner Avenue, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, in the parking lot of the Jewel-Osco store, 4042 W. Foster Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 71-year-old man reported that he placed groceries inside the trunk of his vehicle in the parking lot and when he opened the driver’s side door, a man approached him and asked if he could use his cell phone, according to police.
The man reported that he allowed the man to make a phone call and that when the man was finished and he attempted to take it back from him, the man pointed a silver handgun at him and said, "Give me your car keys," police said.
The man reported that after he ran away from the man around his vehicle and screamed the word "gun," the man took his cell phone and entered a light-colored vehicle and drove away west, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 17 to 18, about 5-9 and 160 pounds, and wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and blue pants.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, in a parking lot in the 6200 block of North McCormick Boulevard, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 43-year-old woman reported that as she was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot a teenager approached her from behind, punched her on the side of her head, knocked her to the ground and took her purse containing her iPhone 10 cell phone and $2,000 in cash before he fled south, according to police.
A man reported that a man attempted to break into his apartment in the 4300 block of North Kimball Avenue at about 1:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that while he was in his kitchen, a man pushed open a rear window and poked his head inside, and that when he shouted at him, the man ran away, according to police.
The man was described as black.

The man reported that while he was in his kitchen, a man pushed open a rear window and poked his head inside, and that when he shouted at him, the man ran away, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 30, about 6-2 with brown eyes and short black hair, and wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.
A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 5000 block of North Kostner Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear doors had been forced open and that an Apple laptop computer and an iPod were missing, and that a chest containing an unknown amount of cash and other items had been moved outside near a garden in the backyard, according to police.
A neighbor reported that he saw two men flee from the residence and enter a red sport utility vehicle, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3200 block of West Olive Avenue was burglarized between 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, and 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a window had been opened and that a 32-inch Samsung television set was missing, according to police.
