Local Crime from 16th District 9-5-18
A TEENAGER was arrested after allegedly firing a handgun at a vehicle at about 1:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in the 5500 block of West Irving Park Road by Portage Park, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A caller reported that he saw a male on the corner shoot at a Jeep and officers encountered a group of four males and a woman in the park and while questioning the people the teenager ran south through the park and across Irving Park Road before officers caught and detained the teen, according to police.
Officers discovered a .380-caliber handgun and four spent bullet casings by the corner of Portage Park, and the teen was arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 17-year-old male.
A man was stabbed and robbed at about 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the parking lot of the Association Management Center, 8735 W. Higgins Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that as he was entering his parked work vehicle he heard someone yelling "call the police" and saw a man running from another man who was stabbing him in the back with a knife, and that he saw the man collapse and the armed man rummaged through his pockets and ran away north, according to police.
A police canine unit recovered a blood-covered butcher’s knife hidden in some bushes, police said. The man was transported in critical condition to Lutheran General Hospital, according to police.
The assailant was described as white/Hispanic, age 20 to 25, about 6-1 and 180 pounds, with short black hair, and wearing jeans and a beige shirt.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly resisting arrest and on other charges at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, in the 4100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, following an alleged hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier on Milwaukee, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 28-year-old woman reported that a man in a silver Pontiac Grand Am struck her car in the 4100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue and that the driver allegedly fled, according to police.
Officers saw a man fitting a description in the parking lot of Parkway Bank and Trust, 4106 N. Milwaukee Ave., and drinking alcohol and tried to handcuff him after he was identified as the driver, but the man ran away through an alley where he was caught, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Clark Elliot Armstrong, age 27, of the 4000 block of North Lawler Avenue.
AN EMPLOYEE of the 7-Eleven store, 5316 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that the store was robbed at about 1:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store, implied that he was carrying a weapon and demanded cash, and that she gave him $50 in cash before he fled north from the store, according to police.
The man was described as white, 5-6 to 5-8 and 150 to 160 pounds, and wearing a black and grey hooded sweatshirt and a purple bandanna covering his face.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Esquire Motel, 6145 N. Elston Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old woman reported that she was arguing with a man when the man brandished a knife from a sheath and took $100 before he fled on foot, according to police.
The man was described as age 24 to 30, approximately 5-6 and 200 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and wearing a blue T-shirt and long jeans.
Local Crime from 16th District 8-25-18
A MAN REPORTED that he was stabbed in an apparent gang-related incident at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, in the 5300 block of West School Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that he was walking to his parked car when three men exited a black truck that was possibly a Chevrolet Trailblazer, shouted gang slogans and began punching him in the face, and that during the altercation one man stabbed him in the stomach before they fled and he was transported to Community First Medical Center, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicles were reported stolen between 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, and 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicles were reported stolen in the 6700 block of West Imlay Street, the 8500 block of West Rascher Avenue, the 4100 block of North Menard Avenue, the 5500 block of West Roscoe Street, the 8600 block of West Foster Avenue, the 3300 block of North Lamon Avenue and the 6700 block of North Keota Avenue, according to police.
THE OWNER of the Convenient Etc. store, 3723 N. Harlem Ave., reported that the store was burglarized at about 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he received notification from his burglar alarm system that there was movement within store premises, and that when he returned to his store he discovered that a previously broken window had its cardboard covering tampered with and that an unknown amount of cash and lottery tickets were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his garage in the 5700 block of North Odell Avenue was burglarized between 4:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage he discovered that the garage door was open, and that a grey BMX bike with neon yellow lettering valued at $500, a cooler valued at $100, three cases of beer valued at $60 and various pieces of jewelry were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a home in the 3400 block of North Ozark Avenue was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 36-year-old woman who works as a babysitter for the homeowner reported that when she returned to the home she discovered the rear door kicked in and the homeowner reported that a gold Rolex watch valued at $20,000, $1,500 in cash, a laptop computer valued at $600 and 30 prescription pills were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 5500 block of West Dakin Street was burglarized between 10:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear doors were unlocked, and that two wedding rings, an engagement ring, a purse, a 55-inch television set and two ivory-handled knives were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 3900 block of North Pittsburgh Avenue was burglarized between 6 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage he discovered that the side garage door had been opened and that a table saw valued at $450 and three toolboxes valued at $300 were missing, according to police.
