Local Crime from 17th District 12-29-18
SHOTS WERE fired at about 3 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, in the 3400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An 18-year-old man reported that he was driving his Chrysler Voyager minivan behind a black Infiniti G35 sedan with four men inside, and that as the two vehicles turned onto Milwaukee Avenue one of the Infiniti occupants fired a handgun at his van, striking the Chrysler twice in the hood, once in the front windshield and once on the passenger-side headlight, according to police.
The men were all described as ages 18 to 25 and 5-8 to 5-10.
SHOTS WERE fired in an apparent gang-related incident at about 6:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, in the 4500 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A man and a woman reported that they were sitting in their parked Jeep Grand Cherokee when a white four-door sedan drove next to them and a rear passenger exited the sedan, tapped the Jeep’s front passenger window with a handgun and fired three shots at them, striking the front passenger window and both passenger-side doors, according to police.
The man and woman reported that the woman then sped the Jeep away, striking two parked vehicles in the process, as the sedan continued to chase them a short distance, police said.
The armed male was described as white/Hispanic with a medium complexion, about age 17, approximately 5-4 and 130 to 140 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in the 3300 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 22-year-old man reported that he was inside a Nissan Altima driven by his friend when a black Jeep Patriot started following them as they drove north on Monticello and the Jeep stopped at Monticello and School Street and a person fired shots from the car, according to police.
The man reported that he was legally carrying a handgun and returned gunfire, and officers recovered five spent bullet casings of different calibers and also discovered that a parked Dodge Grand Caravan was damaged by bullets, police said.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in the 3600 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The teenager reports that he was using his cellphone when two males exited a parked white Nissan and a male tried to grab his phone, and that the teen punched the male, according to police. The teenager reported that the second man then struck him in the head with tree branch, and that the men took the phone and drove away, police said.
One male was described as white with a fair complexion, about age 17, approximately 5-6 and 160 pounds, with short brown hair, and wearing cargo shorts and a black Nike-brand hooded sweatshirt. The other man was described as white, about age 19, approximately 5-7 and 140 pounds, with short black hair.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5600 block of North Kolmar Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front and rear doors had been opened and that and that a vintage sewing machine, three designer-brand handbags and two yellow rings were missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS discovered injured in the 3600 block of North Sacramento Avenue at about 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, following an incident that occurred earlier in the night, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers saw a man bleeding from the forehead who reported that he was struck with a baseball bat earlier in the night, and he was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to police. The man was heavily intoxicated and could not remember exactly when or where he was attacked, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at about 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at his home in the 4800 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that a man approached him in his driveway claiming to be a water department employee who needed to "check the hot water" and he let the man into his home through the rear door, and that a short time later he discovered that a locked drawer containing jewelry boxes was pried open and three to four pieces of jewelry and $100 to $150 in cash were missing, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic and 5-6 to 6-0.
TWO MEN reported that their apartment in the 4800 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The men reported that when they returned home they discovered that the front door frame was broken, and that a ring valued at $400, six pairs of earrings valued at $500, three necklace crosses valued at $450, a watch and $500 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 5700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized at about midnight Tuesday, Dec. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a north-side window was broken and that two televisions valued at $500 and $150 in cash was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, and 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, while it was parked in the 6400 block of North Trumbull Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she returned to the vehicle she discovered that a $10 lottery ticket and $15 in change were missing, according to police.
