Motorcyclist is killed in accident in South Edgebrook

A man was fatally injured in a traffic accident at about 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the 6000 block of North Caldwell Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
A 53-year-old man was driving a Jeep Wrangler west on Caldwell and as he was turning left onto Leader Street he collided with a 24-year-old male motorcyclist who was traveling east on Caldwell, according to police. The motorcyclist was transported to Lutheran General Hospital and pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
The driver of the Jeep refused medical treatment while his passenger was transported to Swedish Covenant in good condition with a laceration to his face, according to police.
There are currently no charges or citations issued and witnesses reported that the man on the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, police said.
The deceased man was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Mikolai Laszczewski, age 24, of the 5400 block of North Lotus Avenue.
