Apartments permit OK’d
by BRIAN NADIG
A construction permit application for a 16-unit apartment building at 4812 W. Montrose Ave. was reinstated on Dec. 18 and approved later the same day.
The city Department of Buildings had voided the application due to 120 days of inactivity on its processing. Permit applications go through a dozen reviews from city agencies before being issued, and it is not unusual for voided applications to be reinstated by paying a fee.
Located behind the planned 3 1/2-story building will be 11 outdoor parking spaces along the rear alley. In 2010, a one-story retail center was proposed for the vacant lot. The site has been used as a parking lot for decades.
The site qualified for a reduction in the usual one parking space per unit requirement due to the site’s proximity to the Mayfair Metra Station, 4357 N. Cicero Ave.
