Buyk opens online grocery store in Six Corners area, says items delivered within 15 minutes via bikes

A new grocery concept that now operates in the Six Corners area calls for “dark” stores where orders are filled and delivered via bicycles — not cars — to customers with 15 minutes of the order being placed.
“Buyk is a real-time retail service that provides groceries and essential items to customers’ doorsteps in 15 minutes or faster – with no minimum spend and no delivery fee. We launched in August, 2021, in New York City, where we have already opened 20 dark stores, and we are currently expanding to Chicago,” a company spokesperson said.
Buyk has moved into a storefront at 4819 W. Irving Park Road.
“Our dark store model is different from traditional supermarkets. Dark stores are not open to the public, instead customers can conveniently order products via the mobile app from their home or office. Afterwards, the order will be packed by our dark store staff and delivered within 15 minutes.,” the spokesperson said.
The company has not announced the total number of dark stores it plans for Chicago, and its delivery areas are based on how far a bicyclist can travel within approximately 10 minutes of the store.
“We aim to fulfill customers’ daily needs by selling a wide range of groceries and other products you typically find in a local supermarket – from fresh vegetables and fruits to household items.
“In terms of brands, we offer both national brands such as Coca-Cola and Beyond Meat among many others, and products from local producers – e.g. vegetables and milk from nearby farms and other local favorites,” the spokesperson said.
