Council seeks input on playlot design

The Wildwood Park Advisory Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, to gather community input on a new playground design for the park, 6950 N. Hiawatha Ave.
The meeting will be held inside the library at Wildwood School, which has the same address as the park.
Council president Bruce Canetti said that Chicago Park District officials will present three sample renderings at the meeting and that a final design will be based on feedback from residents. The current playground was installed 18 years ago.
Construction of the new playground is not expected to occur until next year, Canetti said. The advisory council had been dormant for several years, but a group of residents recently revived it in part to help facilitate a new playground at the park.
Canetti said that the council presented input to the park district that it had received last month when park patrons were asked for feedback on designs for other Northwest Side parks. Renderings of those playgrounds were put on display at the park on June 17.
Some residents have recommended a zip-line feature for the park, Canetti said, Children would sit on a suspended seat which would be a couple of feet from the ground, he said.
