Eden Church and Co-Sponsors Host “Bridging Jeff Park” Booth at Jeff Fest

Eden United Church of Christ has convened a three-year project entitled "Bridging Jeff Park: Neighbors Past, Present and Future." Eden and its five charter co-sponsors invite the public to learn more at a JeffFest Booth dedicated to raising project awareness.

"We’re excited to bring together these partners who share pride in and commitment to the heritage of our "city within a city," says Pastor Jacki Belile.   "We believe that sharing stories of its journey and ours, and encountering its special places together, will benefit the sense of common space we feel as residents building Jefferson Park’s future together."

The Booth will include displays of Jeff Park past and present, as well as interactive opportunities to share and collect stories and develop an interactive visual tool of neighbors’ roots, appreciation and commitments to the neighborhood.

Charter co-sponsors include Congregational Church of Jefferson Park, Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce, Jefferson Park Forward, Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association and Redeemer of Calvary/El Redentor del Calvario United Methodist Church. The project, underwritten by a seed grant from the Wilbur Warner Trust, was launched in the spring at the city-wide "On the Table" neighbors’ gathering to write a "Memo to the Mayor" about Jefferson Park. A new inclusive website for the neighborhood is under construction at http://jeffparkchicago.com

Plans are underway for semi-annual tours of distinct neighborhood treasures, with the first one being a "Sacred Spaces Tour" (religious and secular) October 19-20th, planned in conjunction with Open House Chicago.  Other future tours may have a retail, arts, or garden foci.
