Forum scheduled for NW Side candidates
Nadig Newspapers will co-sponsor a forum for candidates in the races for the 15th Illinois House District and 39th Ward committeeman races at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in the auditorium of Palmer School, 5051 N. Kenneth Ave.
The event is being organized by the Hollywood-North Park Community Association, the Mayfair Civic Association and the North Mayfair Improvement Association.
Jac Charlier is challenging state Representative John D’Amico in the Democratic primary, and Jonathan Edelman is running unopposed in the Republication primary.
Robert Murphy is challenging incumbent Patrick Molloy, who was appointed to the position after Randy Barnette resigned last year, in the Democratic committeeman race. Murphy was unsuccessful in his bid to unseat 39th Ward Alderman Margaret Laurino, who is married to Barnette, in 2015.
According to the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, Republican committeeman candidate Kevin White was removed from the ballot because of insufficient signatures, and incumbent committeeman William Miceli withdrew after a challenge was filed to his nominating papers. Miceli said that he has filed the paperwork to run as a write-in candidate.
Not all of the candidates have confirmed their participation in the forum. The moderator will be Nadig Newspapers publisher Brian Nadig.
Questions for the candiates can be submitted by e-mail to 15district39wardcommiteeman@gmail.com. (Note variant spelling of committeeman.)
The 15th District and the 39th Ward include the Sauganash and Forest Glen neighborhoods and parts of Mayfair and Edgebrook.
