Lincolnwood Board of Trustees March 3 meeting

The Lincolnwood Board of Trustees at its meeting March 3 authorized an agreement under which the Village of Glenview will provide food and sanitation inspections at all food establishments in Lincolnwood.
The village has an agreement with the Cook County Department of Public Health to perform at least one inspection of all village food establishments in a 6-month period, and the county increased its fees from $60 per inspection to $100 per inspection in November. The village solicited bids for the work from nearby suburbs, including Evanston, Skokie and Wilmette, and determined that Glenview’s bid of $80 per inspection was the most cost-effective.
Glenview has two licensed inspectors, and the village plans to expand its third-party contract code enforcement. The estimated annual cost of the inspections will decrease from $17,000 to $12,750.
Also at the meeting, the board removed from the agenda a request for variations that were sought to permit construction of a detached garage in the rear yard of a home at 3350 W. Columbia Ave. after the home owner withdrew the application.
The trustees also rejected a proposal for a new security system provider. After village staff reported that the current security provider, Tyco Integrated, has been underperforming, the village sought proposals for a new provider but received only one response, so another request for proposals will be made.
The village board also amended the village code to allow minor variations to be granted for building additions that match existing nonconforming setbacks for single-family and multi-family homes.
The trustees also approved a resolution that urges Governor Bruce Rauner and the General Assembly to retain full funding of the Local Government Distributive Fund and other revenue sources that provide aid to local governments. Rauner has proposed a 50 percent reduction in the local share of income tax would mean a loss of $623,205 for the village.
