Local Crime from 16th District 1-11-17
A MAN WAS shot at about midnight Sunday, Jan. 8, in the 4800 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that he was at his father’s house and that he had an argument with his 19-year-old stepbrother, who is in a gang, according to police. The man said that the stepbrother threatened to shoot him and that after he left the home the stepbrother fired several shots at him, with one round striking him in the right buttock, police said. The man was treated at Loyola University Medical Center, police said.
THE OWNER of the Ecua-Techs electronics repair store, 4948 W. Irving Park Road, was arrested on felony theft charges for allegedly receiving stolen merchandise at about 5:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 24-year-old woman reported that her laptop computer and her iPad were stolen from a car in Schaumburg on Jan. 6 and that she was able to track the items to the 4900 block of Irving Park Road, according to police. Officers who went to the electronics store on the block found three laptop computers under the counter, and one of the computers was identified as the one that was reported stolen by the woman, police said. The woman’s iPad and 16 additional laptop computers were reportedly were stolen were found in the store, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Enrique P. Barriga, age 25, of the 3300 block of North Claremont Avenue.
A WORKER OF the Gunnison Spa, 6338 W. Gunnison St., was issued citations for alleged prostitution and operating a house of ill fame after officers conducted a sting operation at about 11:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Responding to complaints by residents, an undercover officer went to the business in for a 1-hour massage for $70, and during the massage the officer solicited a sexual act and the woman allegedly agreed to perform the act for $50, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, in the 4500 block of North Long Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 24-year-old woman reported that two men got out of a car and one of them displayed a handgun and took her cell phone and a debit card, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, in the 4900 block of North Monitor Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 37-year-old woman reported that a man displayed a handgun and took her purse containing $125 and credit cards, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the 4500 block of North Lockwood Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that he arranged a meeting with a girl he met on Facebook and that two men punched him and knocked him to the ground and took his jacket, shoes, cell phone and a bag of marijuana, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the 3200 block of North Linder Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 66-year-old woman reported that a man pushed her to the ground and took her purse containing items valued at $150, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested on drug charges at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, in the 7300 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who stopped a vehicle with a headlight out saw the man place a bag containing a substance suspected of being marijuana into the side door compartment, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as William P. Moore, age 26, of the 6900 block of South Lowe Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that her purse was stolen at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, in the 7100 block of West Grace Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 60-year-old woman reported that two men approached her and one of them took her purse containing medication and $20 in cash, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that they were the victims of a scam at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at their home in the 4400 block of North Lavergne Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that a man knocked on their door and told them that he had struck their garage while moving his truck and that he wanted to pay for the damage, according to police. The 84-year-old man reported that the man led him outside and they agreed on a $150 payment, and the 84-year-old woman reported that a second man entered the home and talked to her and they later discovered that a watch, a charm, two pairs of earrings, two chains, a bracelet, documents, silver spoons and $89 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5500 block of West Cornelia Avenue was burglarized between 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was open and that an iPad, a tablet, two pairs of earrings, a gold crucifix, a pendant, a wedding band and a purse were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that three men broke into her neighbor’s home in the 7300 block of West Berwyn Avenue at about 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she saw three men leave through the front door of her neighbor’s home, and the neighbor reported that two cell phones, an iPad, a watch, a ring and a safety box were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 5000 block of North Neenah Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that tools valued at $5,600 were missing from the garage, according to police.
THEFTS OF vehicles were reported between Dec. 31 and Jan. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 5300 block of West Dakin Street, the 4800 and 5100 blocks of West Eddy Street, the 5300 and 5700 blocks of West Warwick Avenue, the 5400 block of North Cumberland Avenue, the 5100 block of West Byron Street and the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to police.
Also, in the 3200 block of North Oconto Avenue, the 5600 block of West Waveland Avenue, the 6100 block of West Berenice Avenue, the 5700 block of North Central Avenue, the 7400 block of West School Street and the 5100 block of West Roscoe Street, according to police.
In several of the incidents the cars were running unattended while they were being warmed up, police said.
