AN EMPLOYEE of the 7-Eleven store, 7555 W. Irving Park Road, was shot in an apparent robbery at about 7:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a person shot and discovered a 28-year-old employee with two gunshot wounds to his right side and left leg and he was transported in stable condition to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, according to police.
The store security camera shows a man ask the employee for a pack of cigarettes and points a gun at him and demands for him to open the register, according to police. The video shows that the man then jumps over the counter and struggles with the employee and then shoots him twice and flees out of the store, police said.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, 5-7 to 5-9 and 120 to 140 pounds, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the words "Space" on the front and blue jeans.
TWO MEN were arrested for allegedly breaking into a woman’s car a second time within hours on Dec. 30 and after her friend fired a gun at them and chased them, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) Police District.
A 25-year-old woman reported that her black Nissan Rouge was stolen at about 5:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, from the Mobil gas station, 5949 W. Higgins Ave., according to police. The woman reported that she left the car on with the keys in the ignition to get coffee and when she returned she discovered that it was stolen, police said.
The woman reported that after her vehicle was recovered a couple of hours later and parked in the 4800 block of North Moody Avenue she saw two men unlocking her car at about 7:15 a.m. and shouted for them to get out, according to police.
The woman reported that at this time her 26-year-old friend drove up in his vehicle and that one of the men threatened to kill him and backed up and struck his car and drove away and he fired his firearm at them and later saw the men flee on foot and gave a brief chase, police said.
Officers caught the two men and they were arrested on signed complaints, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Phillip Roloson, age 20, of the 6100 block of West Higgins Avenue, and Shane A. Diehl-Bremer, age 22, of the 6100 block of West Higgins Avenue. Roloson was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated assault and other charges. Diehl-Bremer was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle.
A MAN WAS shot in an apparent gang-related incident at about 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in the 4900 block of West Hutchinson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that as he was getting in his into his car two men walked up to him shouting gang slogans and that one of them fired three shots at him, striking him in both ankles, police said. The man reported that he drove away before realizing that he had been shot, then switched seats with his passenger, who flagged down an ambulance, according to police. The man was transported to Community First Medical Center, police said.
One of the men was described as black, wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt. The man with the gun was described as white/Hispanic.
A MAN WAS shot at about 3:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, in the 7100 block of West Gregory Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported at Resurrection Medical Center that he entered the Taco Burrito King restaurant, 5509 N. Harlem Ave. and asked three men, "Who wants to get knocked out?" causing an argument that, according to a witness, continued into the parking lot and later the street, police said. The man reported that he heard a whizzing sound as he got into his vehicle, then drove home before noticing a burning feeling in his upper right arm, according to police. The man reported that he drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for a graze wound and released, police said. The man’s vehicle had three bullet holes, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, in the 4200 block of North Melvina Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teen reported that two men exited black sedan wearing surgical masks and one of them demanded his belongings, pointed a gun and took his cell phone and asthma inhaler, according to police.
The men were described as black and age 17 to 19.
A MAN WAS attacked at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, in the 3900 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A witness reported that a 66-year-old man was pulled from his vehicle and attacked by two men following a traffic accident, police said. The witness reported that he and another man pulled the men off and they fled westbound on West Dakin Street, according to police. The witnesses reported that the altercation appeared to be accident related because the two men assailants appeared to be tow truck drivers, police said.
The men were described as white/ Hispanic, 5-4 and 5-9. One man was described as wearing a blue flannel sweater. The other man was described as wearing a black leather jacket.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Shell gas station, 4001 N. Laramie Ave., reported that a man attempted to rob the business at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man asked to exchange money at the after-hours service window and when he told the man he could not exchange money, the man reached into his waistband and told the employee, "Give me the register or I’ll kill you," police said. The employee reported that he refused and the man fled, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 22 and 28, 5-5 to 5-8, and 110 to 130 pounds, with short brown hair and a scar on his right hand.
A WOMAN reported that her house in the 5000 block of West Berenice was damaged by bullets at about 6 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A witness told police that they heard shots fired and saw a white vehicle speeding westbound on West Berenice Street, according to police. The woman reported three bullet holes in the front living room window and one bullet hole in the wall near the front door, police said. The woman reported that several other people were asleep in the living room at the time, but no injuries were reported, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was threatened with a gun at about midnight Tuesday, Jan. 2, in the 3400 block of North Normandy Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he heard a loud crash and when he went outside to investigate he saw that a vehicle was on his neighbor’s lawn and a man was exiting the vehicle, according to police. The man reported that when he asked if the man was okay, the man fled southbound on North Normandy Avenue, police said. The man reported that when he followed the man the man stopped and pointed a gun at him and when he pointed his own gun at him the man fled, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 21 to 24, 5-9, and 180 pounds, and wearing a gray parka jacket.
A TEENAGER was arrested for threatening officers with a BB gun at about 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, in the 3800 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a person with a gun stopped a person matching a description when the teenage pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the officers, then dropped the weapon after the officers ordered him to do so, according to police. The weapon was later discovered to be a replica BB gun, police said.
The suspect was identified by police only as a 15-year-old male.
SEVERAL motor vehicle thefts were reported between 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 6500 block of West Belmont Avenue, the 6200 block of West Holbrook Street, the 5300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, the 5100 block of West Melrose Street, the 5500 block of North Chester Avenue and in the 5200 block of North Reserve Avenue, according to police.
