Local Crime from 16th District 10-30-19
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the 4300 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that he contacted a man through Facebook to purchase a cellphone and that when he met the man on Laramie Avenue he pointed a black handgun with an attached flashlight at him, demanded money and took his Samsung cellphone and $850 in cash, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 30, approximately 5-6 and 150 pounds, with short black hair.
A TEENAGER reported that he and a friend were robbed at about 4:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at Portage Park, 5598 W. Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teen reported that he was with a group of friends in the park when a group of five males approached and struck him and his friend, pushed the two of them off their bicycles and took the bikes, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening employees of the Popeyes restaurant, 5248 W. Belmont Ave., at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Employee reported that a man became angry and threatened them before he allegedly said he would "bring my boys to shoot up this place," and the man was arrested across the street from the restaurant, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Keith M. King, age 41, of the 5200 block of West Wellington Avenue.
A CAR WAS set on fire at about 3 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the 6600 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man and a woman reported that they saw a man at the intersection of Roscoe Street and Normandy Avenue carrying a burning object that he threw at a parked 2011 Nissan Rogue before running away west, and fire department personnel extinguished the fire but the Nissan was heavily damaged and towed away, according to police.
A woman reported that she parked her Nissan Rogue on Friday, Oct. 25, in the 5200 block of Henderson Street and discovered that it was stolen the next day at about 3:30 p.m., and it was later discovered that her stolen vehicle was the same vehicle burned in the arson incident, police said.
The male was described as wearing a black or dark colored hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans and a baseball cap.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen from his garage in the 5300 block of West Newport Avenue between 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, and 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage he discovered that his black 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck was missing, and that his other parked vehicle was also damaged, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen between 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, and 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, from the 4600 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned outside he discovered that his blue 2009 Buick Enclave was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, from the 4900 block of North Lamon Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned outside he discovered that his white 2007 GMC vehicle was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her items were stolen at about 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, as she was walking from the Bel Park Food and Liquor store, 4752 W. Belmont Ave., to the 4800 block of West Henderson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she was leaving the store when she stopped to talk to two men in the alley who took her cellphone valued at $200, according to police.
Both men were described as white, age 49 to 55 and blond haired.
A MAN REPORTED that a ride-share driver stole his property at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, in the 6100 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he ordered a Lyft from Belmont Avenue and Clark Street to his home on Lawrence and that when he entered his home he discovered that he left his cellphone in the vehicle, and that when he asked the driver for his cellphone valued at $1,000 the driver refused to give it back unless he paid him and drove away, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her house in the 7100 block of West Devon Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the side door was damaged, and that a laptop computer valued at $1,000, $1,000 worth of jewelry, a safe-box valued at $200 and a designer-brand purse were missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their house in the 6900 block of West Melrose Street was burglarized between 7 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that the rear doorframe was broken and that a wooden box containing miscellaneous papers, a small box containing custom-made bracelets and a Google-brand tablet computer device were missing, according to police.
