Local Crime from 16th District 10-7-15
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 5789 N. Milwaukee Ave., was robbed at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 43-year-old woman reported that a man displayed a handgun, ordered a customer to the rear of the store, struck her on the head with the gun, and took her cell phone and numerous lottery tickets, according to police.
A DOCTOR was arrested on forgery and alleged distribution of a controlled substance charges after Drug Enforcement Agency agents went to a medical office at 4955 N. Milwaukee Ave. at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Agents informed officers that the man forged a prescription for an Oxycodone narcotic drug containing a fictional diagnosis that he dispensed a controlled substance in the form of a prescription with no legitimate medical purposes, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Iqbal Akhter, age 75, of the 6400 block of North Longmeadow Avenue, Lincolnwood.
A MAN WAS arrested after officers saw him wearing a ski mask and acting suspiciously in front of the First Midwest Bank, 7181 W. Irving Park Road, at about 9:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
When officers responded to a report of a suspicious person, the man removed the mask and fled, according to police. The man dropped a bag containing sunglasses, a replica revolver and a ski mask in the 3800 block of North Harlem Avenue, where he was placed into custody, police said.
The suspect, who was charged with reckless conduct, was identified by police as Carey W. Gutowski, age 47, of the 7600 block of North Paulina Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed about 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the 3800 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun, took his cell phone, his headphones and a sweatshirt and struck him on the head with the gun, according to police.
THE PATIO THEATER, 6008 W. Irving Park Road, was cited for having no valid business licenses at about 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers who conducted a license check discovered that the business had expired licenses, and the manager was cited for having an expired public place of amusement license and an expired retail food establishment license, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the 8500 block of West Gregory Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that as he was taking groceries from the trunk of his car, a man struck him in the face and took his watch valued at $700 and an unknown amount of cash, according to police.
AN OFFICER shot a dog and the owner of four pit bulls was cited for city code violations following an incident at about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in the 6700 block of West Palatine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 69-year-old man reported that he was walking his labrador when he saw three pit bulls charging at him, according to police. The man said that he grabbed his dog and that one of the pit bulls bit the dog on the nose, police said.
Officers found the dogs unleashed on the front porch of a home in the 6800 block of West Highland Avenue, and when an officer got out of his vehicle and two dogs approached him and a third charged at him and he shot the dog in the head, according to police. Family members said they would take the dog to a hospital, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested on gun charges at about 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, in the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers saw a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and stopped him to issue a citation, and they smelled the odor of marijuana in his backpack and discovered a replica gun, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Justin J. Turley, age 18, of the 5100 block of West Montrose Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 7100 block of North Melvina Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that $60 in cash was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6000 block of West Montrose Avenue was burglarized between 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, and 2 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that an amplifier valued at $300, cables valued at $80, a pedal tuner valued at $100, a backpack valued at $40 and $150 in cash were missing, according to police.
THEFTS OF catalytic converters from vehicles were reported between Sept. 27 and Oct. 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 3300 block of North Overhill Avenue, the 6200 block of West School Street, the 4300 block of North Melvina Avenue, the 3800 block of North Oconto Avenue, the 4200 block of North McVicker Avenue and the 6100 block of West Grace Street, according to police.
Also, in the 6000 block of West Warwick Avenue, the 3400 block of North Linder Avenue, the 5700 block of West Henderson Street, the 6100 block of West Eddy Street, the 5900 block of West Patterson Avenue and the 5300 block of North Neva Avenue, police said.
