Local Crime from 16th District 11-20-19
SHOTS were fired in an apparent domestic-related incident at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at an apartment building in the 7500 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A woman reported that she was parking with her daughter and two grandsons when a black 2003 Nissan Pathfinder with a female driver and a male passenger pulled into the rear alley and her daughter’s ex-boyfriend exited the Nissan, pulled her daughter’s hair and punched her, according to police. The woman reported that when she tried to intervene the man punched her, and that he revealed a silver revolver and fired one shot each toward them before they drove away, police said.
The man was described as about 6-3 and 225 pounds, with a light skin complexion, brown eyes, short black hair, a tattoo on the lower left arm and back, and wearing a gray jacket. The woman was described as white, about age 22, with brown eyes and long brown hair.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the 8400 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that while waiting at the traffic light at West Lawrence and North Cumberland avenues a man in a white 2017 Ford Explorer pickup truck honked at him, and that when he rolled down the window the man exited the Ford, opened his door, punched him in the face and took his cellphone and a bag containing $1,700 in cash before, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 40 to 45, about 5-10 or 5-11 and 170 to 180 pounds, with brown eyes, short brown hair, and wearing a multi-colored button down shirt.
A WOMAN reported that her purse was stolen at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the 4400 block of North Parkside Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 77-year-old woman reported that she was approaching an alley of Parkside and Montrose avenues when a person took her black purse containing a rosary, a prayer book and other miscellaneous items, according to police.
The person was described as about 5-8 and 135 pounds, with short black hair.
A MAN REPORTED that his wallet was stolen at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, on a train near the Harlem CTA Blue Line station, 5550 N. Harlem Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that while he was on the train he felt someone brush by him, and that he later discovered that his black wallet containing his ID and credit cards and a work permit was missing, according to police.
A CAREGIVER reported that a man broke into a house in the 5300 block of North Lynch Avenue at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he heard a man knocking on the side door about 10 times and he ignored the knocking, and that the man then forced the rear door open with a crowbar and walked in until he noticed him inside and ran back outside to a black or dark blue pickup truck with two other men, which sped away south through an alley, according to police.
All three men were described as white/Hispanic, and the man who broke in was further described as wearing a dark blue baseball cap and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6700 block of North Lightfoot Avenue was burglarized between 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, and 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that his side door was forced open and that $170 in cash and 500 rounds of 9mm ammunition valued at about $100 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5200 block of West Patterson Avenue was burglarized between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 pm. Tuesday, Nov. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when his wife returned home she discovered that the rear door was damaged and that $6,000 in cash was missing, according to police.
TWO WOMEN reported that their house in the 7000 block of West Roscoe Street was burglarized between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The women reported that when they returned home they discovered that a second floor bedroom window was unlocked and that a purse valued at $80 and a dress and a sweater valued at $25 each were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN REPORTED that her vehicle was stolen at about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, from the driveway of her home in the 6900 block of North Caldwell Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she left her black 2013 Nissan Rogue in the driveway with the engine running and the keys inside and saw two men enter the Nissan and drive away southeast on Caldwell, according to police.
Both men were described as white/Hispanic and age 18 to 23, and one was further described as wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and the other as wearing a black jacket.
In related news, vehicles were also reported stolen between 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the 6400 block of West Irving Park Road, and at about 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the 7200 block of West Palatine Avenue, police said.
SEVERAL thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles were reported in the area between 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, and 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 3700 block of North Melvina Avenue, the 5100 block of North Lotus Avenue, the 5200 block of West Winona Street, the 5300 block of West Carmen Avenue, the 5400 block of West Foster Avenue and the 5500 block of West Hutchinson Street, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that packages were stolen from her porch and her neighbor’s porch in the 3500 block of North Nagle Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that her surveillance camera recorded a man exit a small tan, beige or silver-colored two-door car and took two packages containing miscellaneous clothing valued at $170 from her porch, before he drove one house north and stole a package containing an electric toothbrush valued at $100 from the porch and continued driving north, according to police.
A PARK supervisor reported that a vehicle’s snowplow was stolen between 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Norwood Park, 5850 N. Avondale Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to the park he discovered that a red plow valued at $1,500 was missing from a park district vehicle, according to police.
