Local Crime from 16th District 11-7-18
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a knife at about 6:55 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the 7100 block of West Grace Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 41-year-old man reported that during a road rage incident, he and the other driver exited their vehicles and the driver approached him with a knife in a "menacing manner," according to police. The man reported that when he yelled to his wife to call the police, the man entered his silver Nissan Altima automobile and drove away, police said.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 29, about 6-0, with black hair and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
A MAN REPORTED that a man vandalized the garage of his home in the 6300 block of West Newport Avenue with gang graffiti at about 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a neighbor told him that two people were in the alley spray-painting his garage, according to police. The man reported that he saw on his home security system a man spray-painting gang graffiti with red spray paint before he and a woman who was acting as a look-out both fled east through the alley, police said.
The man was described as white/ Hispanic, age 18 to 23, between 5-8 and 6-0, between 180 and 200 pounds, with a brown bun hairstyle and wearing a green sweater, blue jeans and black and white gym shoes.
The woman was described as white/Hispanic, between age 18 and 23, between 5-2 and 5-6, between 130 and 140 pounds, and wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and gym shoes, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3800 block of North Paris Avenue was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that his realtor called him and said that the front door of his residence had been opened prior to his arrival to show the property, and that when he arrived he discovered the lock box had been removed from the front door and a Samsung washing machine and drying machine valued at $3,000 were missing, according to police.
Two neighbors reported that they saw two men park a white U-Haul pickup truck in front of the home, enter the residence through the front door and exit through the front door carrying what appeared to be appliances, and that since the property is under construction, they thought the homeowners were having something delivered, police said.
The men were described as black.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4200 block of North Mason Avenue was burglarized at about 2:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a construction worker called him and said that the rear door of his residence had been opened, and that when he arrived, he discovered the lock box was missing, a stove and a microwave were missing and a refrigerator had been dismantled and moved inside the residence near the front door, according to police.
Officers reported that they discovered scratches on the floors inside the residence and water damage in the basement, police said.
AN OFF-DUTY police officer reported that two men burglarized a vacant home in the 4800 block of West Carmen Avenue at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The officer reported that he saw two men exit a vacant residence that is being reconstructed and then load a washing machine onto the back of a U-Haul pickup truck with Arizona license plates, and that when he questioned the men, they said, "We have a key," before they entered the truck and drove away south on North Elston Avenue, according to police.
Responding officers discovered that a lock box of the residence had been cut, that the key from the lock box had been used to gain entry into the residence, that the rear door had been opened, a drying machine had been moved from inside the residence to the backyard and that the gas hose of the drying machine had been cut, police said.
The men were described as black, age 35 and 40, between 5-8 and 6-1 and about 220 pounds.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at her home in the 6500 block of North Caldwell Avenue at about 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that a man knocked on her front door and she stepped outside to talk with him about the leaves in her front yard, and that after she asked the man to leave her property, he looked around the side of her house and at her backyard before he left, according to police.
The woman reported that when she entered her home she discovered several drawers in the upstairs bedrooms had been opened and that three gold bracelets valued at $300 were missing, police said.
The man was described as white/ Hispanic, age 30 to 35 and wearing a gray hooded jacket and a black vest.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 5600 block of West Wilson Avenue was burglarized between 5:40 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that a safe containing $7,000 in cash, his passport, green card, Social Security card, documents and jewelry, and jewelry from a jewelry box were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, and 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, while it was parked in the 3400 block of North Oconto Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his van he discovered that a lock on the back door had been broken and that various tools valued at $5,500 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 4:20 a.m. and 4:55 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, while it was parked in the 5100 block of West Gunnison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that a white gold bracelet valued at $150, six Swiss Army knives, $80 in cash and a debit card were missing, according to police.
The woman reported that she was unsure if her vehicle was locked prior to the incident and that her debit card had been used to make purchases in the amount of $45 before she called her bank to cancel the card, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, and 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, while it was parked in the 8500 block of West Catalpa Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that the front driver’s side window had been broken and that a radar detector valued at $500 was missing, according to police.
