Local Crime from 16th District 2-15-17
A 17-YEAR-OLD teenager was fatally shot at about 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the 5300 block of West Foster Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 16-year-old teenager reported that he was with the victim in an alley and that a red vehicle stopped next to them and three men shouted gang slogans, according to police. The teen said that they responded that they are not in a gang and that the victim was shot as they ran through a gangway, police said.
Officers discovered a bag containing 11 bags containing a substance suspected of being marijuana near a basement window, according to police.
The victim, who was identified by police as Alvin Stoll, age 17, of the 5500 block of Foster, was pronounced dead at Lutheran General Hospital, police said.
TWO MEN reported that a man fired a gun at them at about 4:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the 3600 block of North Oriole Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The men, age 23 and 24, reported that two men in a passing car displayed gang signs and then circled the block, according to police. The men said that the 23-year-old took a shovel from a nearby home and approached the car and that someone in the vehicle fired several shots at them, police said. Officers found six shell casings on the ground, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked and robbed at about 2:05 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in an alley in the 7700 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that a man struck him from behind, knocked him to the ground and took two gift cards and an identification card, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 12:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 33-year-old woman reported that after she parked her car, a man with a gun and a man with a knife approached her and took her wallet containing a debit card, car keys and her cell phone, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the 3200 block of North Natchez Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 55-year-old woman reported that a man took her purse containing debit cards, an identification card, house keys and her cell phone, according to police.
A CAB DRIVER reported that he was attacked and robbed at about 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the hallway of his apartment building in the 7600 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that after he parked his cab, three men got out of a vehicle and forced their way into his apartment, police said. The man reported that one of the men struck him on the forehead with his knee and a second man attempted to stab him and that they took his wallet containing $50 and his cell phone, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the 7-Eleven store, 5600 W. Irving Park Road, was robbed at gunpoint at about 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man reported that a man displayed a handgun and took $300 from the cash register, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the 6500 block of North Oshkosh Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 53-year-old woman reported that after she parked her car, two men got out of a vehicle, approached her and took her purse containing credit cards and her cell phone, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of Walgreens, 6310 N. Nagle Ave., reported that he was attacked outside the store following a theft at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 82-year-old man reported that he saw a man place $915.20 worth of cosmetics into a trash bag and leave the store without paying for the items, and that he confronted the man outside the store the man punched him in the face and fled with the items, according to police.
A MAN AND a teenager were arrested after they were found in a stolen vehicle at about 2:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Mount Olive Cemetery, 3800 N. Narragansett Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he saw his vehicle that he reported stolen on Feb. 5 at the cemetery, and officers arrested the two, according to police. Officers also found two handguns in the teenager’s possession, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Antonio Rogers, age 19, of the 900 block of North Homan Avenue, and as a 15-year-old male.
THE OWNER of the ANG Tobacco Place convenience store, 4943 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that the business was burglarized at about 4:25 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that cigarettes valued at $800, an undisclosed amount of lottery tickets and $50 in cash were missing, according to police.
EMPLOYEES of the Metro PCS store, 5617 W. Montrose Ave., reported that a man took cell phones valued at $2,466 at about 3:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employees reported that two men entered the store and one distracted them and another cut the security cables and took four cell phones, according to police.
A STAFF member reported that the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park, 5320 W. Giddings St., was burglarized between 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, and 10 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the side door had been forced open and that audio equipment valued at $1,425 was missing, according to police.
TWO RESIDENTS reported that their home in the 5900 block of West Grace Street was burglarized between 9 a.m. and noon Monday, Feb. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The residents reported that when they returned home they discovered that the bedroom window was open and that a lockbox containing a 9mm handgun, a passport, a birth certificate and $4,000 in cash was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 4100 block of North Long Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, and 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a side window was open and that a diamond wedding ring valued at $20,000, five bracelets valued at $2,000, three rings valued at $500, two pairs of diamond earrings of unknown value and $10,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
