Local Crime from 16th District 2-20-19
AN EMPLOYEE reported that Hoyne Savings Bank, 4786 N. Milwaukee Ave., was robbed at about 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that the man entered the bank, approached her at the counter with a red and black bag in his hand, leaned over the counter and said, "Gimme all the money, you don’t want any trouble," according to police. The teller reported that she gave the man $2,440 in cash and the man fled west on Lawrence Avenue, police said.
The man was described as black, age 35 to 45, about 6-2 and 240 pounds, with short black hair and wearing a blue and white jacket, blue jeans and a black and white knit hat.
A WITNESS reported that a woman attacked a man with a glass bottle at about 3:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in the 5400 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The witness reported that while a man and a woman were arguing, a different woman approached the man, struck him in the face with a glass bottle and then fled eastbound, according to police. The witness reported that the argument between the man and woman never was physical and that the woman who hit the man with the bottle allegedly thought he was hitting the woman during the argument, police said.
The man was transported to Community First Hospital and treated for a minor laceration above his left eyebrow, according to police.
The woman was described as white, 5-3 to 5-5 and 120 to 135 pounds, and wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:35 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in the 5700 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old woman reported that while she was standing at a CTA bus stop with her sister, a man approached her and asked if he could use her cell phone, and that when she asked him to prove he had no service, he showed her his cell phone before he pushed her and took her Apple iPhone XS cell phone valued at $1,000 containing her driver’s license and school identification card, according to police.
The woman reported that she chased after the man westbound and that he fled southbound in an alley, police said.
The man was described as white/ Hispanic with a light complexion, age 19 to 22, between 5-10 and 6-0 and 120 to 140 pounds, with brown eyes and wearing a red windbreaker jacket and a black bandanna.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, while riding on a CTA bus in the 5700 block of North Northwest Highway, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 64-year-old man reported that while he was traveling northbound inside the 68 CTA bus, a man approached him, punched him in his head and then exited the bus and fled, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 30 to 35, about 5-10 and 160 pounds.
CAR BATTERY thefts were reported between 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, and 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Incidents of stolen batteries from 2001, 2002 and 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee model automobiles were reported in the 3300 block of North Ottawa Avenue, the 3400 block of North Overhill Avenue, the 3300 block of North Pacific Avenue, the 3900 block of North Narragansett Avenue and the 3200 block of North Panama Avenue, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his residence in the 6900 block of North Ozark Avenue was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage, he discovered a snow blower valued at $500 was missing, according to police. The man reported that the side door of his garage was unlocked at the time to the incident, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his residence in the 5100 block of West Melrose Street was burglarized between noon and 8:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage he discovered the side door had been forced open and that a JBL speaker valued at $900 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen at about 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the 3200 block of North Neenah Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 49-year-old man reported that while he was warming up his silver 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300, he left his vehicle unattended with the key inside the ignition, and that when he returned, he discovered his vehicle was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen between 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the 5000 block of West Argyle Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 43-year-old man reported that he had a party at his residence and then later discovered that his vehicle keys and his gray 2002 Nissan Pathfinder automobile were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between midnight and 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in the 5500 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered the rear passenger side window had been broken and that $1,000 in cash and a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer valued at $600 were missing, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that their vehicle was burglarized between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in the 3800 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned to their vehicle they discovered the front passenger side window had been broken and that a purse valued at $200 containing two pairs of sunglasses valued at $149, credit cards, a set of keys and a passport were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and 1 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the 5400 block of North Mont Clare Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered both passenger side windows had been broken and that a purse and wallet valued at $370 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 8:10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the 6800 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle, she discovered the front passenger side window had been broken and that two handbags valued at $1,000, a cell phone valued at $600 and credit cards were missing, according to police.
