Local Crime from 16th District 3-1-17
TWO MEN were shot at about 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the 3300 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The men, age 38 and 40, reported that as they were driving after one of them had a fight with two men at a restaurant, a vehicle passed them and a man fired a gun at them, striking them both in the knees, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested on assault charges following an incident that began at about 10:05 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in the 4800 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man reported that after they had dropped off a friend, a man in a sport utility vehicle a vehicle drove past them and shined a flashlight at them, and then followed them, according to police. The two reported that the man chased them through a parking lot at Diversey and Laramie avenues, and after they were stopped for speeding, they pointed out a passing car that they said was chasing them, and the driver was arrested, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Joshua D. Elias, age 20, of the 4800 block of West Roscoe Street.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the 5200 block of North East River Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old woman reported that a man chased her, knocked her to the ground and punched her, and that when she screamed, the man stabbed her in the buttock and took her cell phone, according to police. The woman was treated at Resurrection Medical Center for bruises and two lacerations that required stitches, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested on domestic battery charges following an incident at about 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at a home in the 3400 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers on a well being check heard a struggle inside the home, and when they entered they saw a 31-year-old woman on the floor and a man with his arm around the woman’s torso and a knife pointed at her head, according to police. Officers electrically shocked the man and placed him into custody, police said. The woman was admitted in serous condition to Illinois Masonic, where she was treated for a cut to her left arm, a stab wound to her left breast and a stab wound to her abdomen, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Edwin Fitzpatrick, age 28, of the Cicero address.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man attempted to rob Trim N Tidy Cleaners, 5939 W. Higgins Ave., at about 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 68-year-old man reported that he heard a noise and saw a man trying to open the cash register, and the man fled after he confronted him and they struggled, according to police.
A MAN WAS placed into custody after he allegedly threatened a man with a gun at about 7:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in the 4100 block of North Dickinson Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 48-year-old man reported that as he was parking his vehicle near Dickinson Park, he saw several men standing on the sidewalk and one of them lifted his shirt, showing a gun in his waistband, and threatened him, according to police. The man reported that he drove away and that he heard what sounded like a gunshot, and after he identified the man, the suspect was placed into custody but had not been charged, police said. Officers did not find a gun, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the 5300 block of West Giddings Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that he met two men at the Jefferson Park CTA Blue Line station to sell a camera and that they walked to Giddings Street, where a third man got out of a car and the three punched him and took a camera, two credit cards, a gift card, a transit card, $20 in cash and a cell phone, according to police.
A SECURITY guard reported that five men broke into the Marino Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership, 5201 W. Irving Park Road, at about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A surveillance video shows a vehicle park near a service door and a man crawl through a window and open the door, after which five men entered and searched cars but left without taking anything, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to break into her home in the 5400 block of West Melrose Street at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that she heard her window being opened and saw a man trying to climb through the window and that the man fled when she screamed, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3600 block of North Nora Avenue was burglarized between 2:15 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that jewelry valued at $10,000 and $500 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5500 block of North Nottingham Avenue was burglarized between 7:20 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that seven watches valued at $4,100, a necklace and $200 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized between 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, and 8:15 a.m. the following day while it was parked in the 4100 block of North Austin Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the side window of her car was open and that tools valued at $3,000 were missing, according to police.
