Local Crime from 16th District 3-11-20
AN EMPLOYEE of the Subway restaurant, 5232 N. Nagle Ave., reported that the store was robbed at about 9:35 p.m. Thursday, March 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store, pointed a knife and demanded money before grabbing $700 in cash from the register and fleeing north on Nagle Avenue and then east on West Berwyn Ave, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 16 to 25, 5-9 to 5-11 and 155 to 185 pounds.
A MAN WAS arrested after an employee of Community First Medical Center, 5645 W. Addison St., reported that he attacked her at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that she was treating the man when he became irate and grabbed her by the shoulder and allegedly punched her several times in the face and neck and ripped her scrub shirt as she pulled away, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jakub Gancarz, age 47, of the 3800 block of West Diversey Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that she was threatened at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the 7300 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 24-year-old woman reported that she was followed from an eye appointment by a woman who then stopped her car in the middle of the street and threatened to attack her, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of Milwaukee Food and Liquor, 4701 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that the business was burglarized at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, March 5, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call burglary and discovered that the front door of the business had been broken and the employee reported that a case of cognac valued at $300 and $100 cash from the register was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5300 block of North Lieb Avenue was burglarized between 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, and 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his home he discovered the rear basement door had been forced open and the house had been ransacked but nothing appeared to be missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3700 block of North Oleander Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open, that there was damage to the doorframe and the house had been ransacked but nothing appeared to be missing, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Metro PCS store, 4865 W. Irving Park Road, reported that the store was burglarized at about 4:40 a.m. Monday, March 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that surveillance footage captured a man kicking in the front glass door and trying to remove the safe, pulling the safe into the hallway and unsuccessfully trying to pry it open with his hands, then rummaging through drawers on the sales floor before attempting to remove a phone from the phone case and fled, according to police. The man was described as black, wearing a dark blue or purple hooded sweatshirt with the words, "I Love Chicago."
SEVERAL catalytic converter thefts were reported between 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, and 7:45 a.m. Monday, March 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 5000 block of West Carmen Avenue, the 5200 block of West Lamon Avenue, in the 7400 block of West Clarence Avenue and in the 5400 block of North LaPorte Avenue, according to police.
SEVERAL motor vehicle thefts were reported between 12:10 a.m. Monday, March 2, and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 5900 block of North Elston Avenue, the 6300 block of North Lenox Avenue, the 4900 block of West Strong Street and in the 6500 block of North Hiawatha Avenue, according to police.
