Local Crime from 16th District 3-13-19
A WOMAN reported that she was carjacked at about 2:10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, in the 3900 block of North Major Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers said that a 37-year-old woman carrying a flashlight stopped them on West Dakin Street and reported that she had been robbed, according to police. The woman reported that while she was sitting inside her parked silver 2005 Chrysler Town and Country with the engine on, a white Buick Enclave automobile parked in front of her before an individual wearing a mask knocked on her window with a handgun and told her to exit the vehicle, according to police.
The woman reported that two other people wearing masks with handguns pulled her out of her vehicle, patted her down and told her to take her kid out of her vehicle, but that her kid was not inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, police said. The woman reported that two of the individuals entered her vehicle while one of the individuals entered the Buick and they all drove away on West Irving Park Road, according to police.
The woman reported that laundry and her purse containing her driver’s license and a debit card was inside the vehicle, and that the vehicle contains Wisconsin license plates with a rusted rear bumper, a broken driver’s side mirror and a dented rear passenger side quarter panel, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him with a metal object at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the 3200 block of North Lockwood Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 40-year-old man reported that a man approached him outside his residence and hit him in the back of his head and in his left forearm with what appeared to be a metal bar or metal pole before he walked away, according to police.
The assailant was described as Hispanic, heavy set and wearing a gray jacket and a black knit hat.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a handgun at about 2:50 a.m. Saturday, March 9, in the 5500 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that while he was driving westbound and stopped at the intersection of North Central Avenue, a man driving a black Ford Focus stopped next to him and pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at him, and that he had seen the man earlier in the drive-through lane at the McDonald’s restaurant, 3615 W. Irving Park Road, according to police. The man reported that he drove his vehicle through a red light at the intersection southbound onto Central Avenue, and that the man followed him until he made an illegal right hand turn into the opposite direction of traffic on West Grace Street, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic and age 20 to 25.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 10 p.m. Thursday, March 7, in the 3600 block of North Leclaire Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that they heard between three to five gunshots near the intersection of North Leclaire and West Waveland avenues before they saw two men run westbound and then northbound through a yard, according to police. Officers reported that they recovered two spent .40-caliber shell casings on the sidewalk at the Leclaire address, police said.
The men were described as age 18 to 20, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man broke into his home in the 6300 block of North Mobile Avenue at about 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he woke up and heard someone in his basement, and that when he started shouting, he heard the person exit through the rear door, according to police. The man reported that he looked outside through a window and saw a man fleeing northbound, and that he discovered that $3,500 in cash, a white gold wedding ring valued at $750 and a digital camera valued at $500 were missing, police said.
The man was described as between 5-8 and 5-10 and between 160 and 180 pounds, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man attempted to break into her residence in the 5200 block of North Mason Avenue at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that while she was watching television she heard a noise downstairs and then saw a man outside who allegedly broke a glass patio window while he attempted to enter her home, and that when she made eye contact with the man, he ran away, according to police
The man was described as Hispanic or black and wearing a gray sweater.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was stolen at about 2:40 a.m. Friday, March 8, while it was parked in the 6700 block of North Loron Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that after his dog woke him up, he looked outside and saw a man enter the passenger side of his silver 2008 Volvo S8, and that someone drove his vehicle away northbound while another sedan drove behind it, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that the doors were stolen from her vehicle between 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, and 6:15 a.m. Thursday, March 7, while it was parked in the 6300 block of North La Crosse Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered the rear driver’s side window valued at $250 had been shattered and four doors valued at $5,000 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 9 p.m. Saturday, March 9, and 12:30 a.m. Sunday, March 10, in the 5000 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that he front passenger side window had been broken and a Michael Kors purse valued at $50 containing credit cards and state identification cards was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 11:40 p.m. Friday, March 8, and 3:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, in the 3500 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that the front passenger side window had been broken and that a book bag was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 7:50 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the 4900 block of West Argyle Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that the rear passenger side window had been shattered and a backpack valued at $40 containing a set of keys valued at $10 and $50 in cash was missing, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported between March 4 and March 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Stolen vehicles were reported in the 5500 block of North Luna Avenue, the 7100 block of West Summerdale Avenue, the 6200 block of West Addison Street, the 6200 block of North Sayre Avenue, the 5000 block of West Ainslie Street and the 3800 block of North Narragansett Avenue, according to police.
