THE MOTHER of a 9-year-old boy reported that her son and his friends told her that a man threatened them and shot a nail gun at them at about 6:20 p.m. Monday, March 17, in the 5000 block of North New England Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Two 9-year-old boys and an 11-year-old boy reported that they saw a man exit a home and wave to a vehicle, and that when they waved back at the man, he pointed a nail gun at them and told them that if they did not leave he would shoot them in the head, according to police. The boys said that the man fired two or three nails at them as they were fleeing, police said.

A MAN WAS arrested on public indecency charges and a second man was arrested on disorderly conduct charges following an incident at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at L.A. Tan, 5252 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that she saw a man outside masturbating outside the business while a second man urged him to continue the lewd act, according to police. The suspects were arrested in the 5300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue based on the description that was provided, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as William E. Holt, age 33, of the 1400 block of West Devon Avenue, and Nathaniel Z. Cawthon-Perez, age 20, of the 2400 block of West Berwyn Avenue.

A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 6:05 p.m. Friday, March 14, at her home in the 7200 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 74-year-old woman reported that she received a phone call from a woman speaking Polish who claimed to be her granddaughter and who said that her father had been in a fatal accident and needed $15,000 to post bail, according to police. The woman said that she agreed to provide the money and that the woman called later and told her to meet a man at Harlem and Higgins avenues, police said.
The woman reported that she gave the man money and that the woman called again and said that she needed $5,000 more and she repeated the procedure and gave the money to the man, police said.

A WOMAN was arrested on weapons charges at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at a residence in the 5200 block of West Eddy Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The owner of the building reported that he had heard gunshots coming from the back yard of his building on March 15, and officers found a shell casing in the yard, according to police. Officers spoke to the woman on March 16, and she said that she was on parole for a drug offense and had moved to the home, police said.
Officers found two handguns and two rounds for an assault weapon in the home, and after the woman told them that the rifle could be found at her previous address, officers recovered a weapon there, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Diana Maldonado, age 27, of the Eddy Street address.

THE OWNER of the Raven Street Salon, 6828 W. Raven St., reported that the business was burglarized between 9 p.m. Saturday, March 15, and 9 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he arrived at the business he discovered that a panel on the rear door was broken and that $390 in cash was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5600 block of West Irving Park Road was burglarized between 4:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, March 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that an Apple computer valued at $1,200 was missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5300 block of West Grace Street was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, March 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that after she woke up she discovered that the back door window was broken and that a cell phone valued at 4350, a laptop computer valued at $1,500, a gold bracelet valued at $800, a gold necklace valued at $1,400, a diamond ring valued at $4,000 and $525 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5400 block of North Lawler Avenue was burglarized between 2:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, March 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a diamond ring, a watch and an iPad were missing, according to police.

A COUPLE reported that their vehicles were burglarized between 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, and 10:30 a.m. the following day, while they were parked in the 5300 block of North Mobile Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man and the woman reported that they discovered that 100 compact discs valued at $1,000, gift cards valued at $1,050 and $20 in cash were missing from a 2002 Mazda and that tools valued at $1,722, an iPad 3 valued at $350, $100 in cash, a left mirror valued at $200 and a digital video disc player were missing from a 2014 Ford Sierra, according to police.

A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of North Natoma Avenue was burglarized at about 9 p.m. Friday, March 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that four designer watches were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5000 block of West Henderson Street was burglarized between 3:10 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer, jewelry and $450 in cash were missing, according to police.

A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6100 block of West Thorndale Avenue was burglarized between 12:45 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been forced opened and that 10 rings and two watches were missing, according to police.

SEVERAL thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles were reported on the Northwest Side between March 8 and March 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 6100 block of West Seminole Street, the 6800 block of North Overhill Avenue, the 5500 block of North Natchez Avenue, the 5300 block of North Newcastle Avenue and the 5700 block of North Mobile Avenue, according to police.
