Local Crime from 16th District 3-21-18
A MAN WAS shot at about 3 a.m. Sunday, March 18, in the 3500 block of North Menard Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that as he was walking northbound on the sidewalk a vehicle drove up next to him and a passenger in the front seat fired a handgun at him and shot him in the middle toe of his right foot before the vehicle drove away, according to police. The man reported that he was talking on his cell phone when the incident occurred and that he was unable to get a description of any individuals involved in the shooting or of the vehicle, and that he ran to Community First Medical Center and was treated for a minor gunshot wound, police said.
A TEENAGER was shot at about 9:20 p.m. Monday, March 12, in the 5700 block of West Irving Park Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teenager reported that while he and a 16-year-old teenager were walking in an alley near the intersection of Austin Avenue and Irving Park, he was shot with a handgun in the upper left thigh, according to police. The teenager was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition, police said.
A WOMAN reported that two teenagers robbed her 12-year-old son at about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, in the 4900 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that while her son was walking through an alley on his way home from school, two male teenagers pushed him to the ground, held him down and took his iPhone 7 Plus cell phone, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of Kobi Tools, 4100 N. Nashville Ave., reported that the business was burglarized at about 10:40 p.m. Monday, March 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that the store’s video surveillance system recorded footage of two people who threw a rock through the front glass door, entered the business and then took an unknown amount of power tools before they exited the store through the front door, according to police.
One of the men was described as between 5-6 an 5-10 and 180 and 225 pounds.
A COUPLE reported that their residence in the 3800 block of North Nordica Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they woke up they discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that jewelry, a passport and $8,200 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his residence in the 6400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue was burglarized between noon Friday, March 9, and 11:20 a.m. Monday, March 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage he discovered that the side door had been forced open and that automobile parts valued at $9,200, a radio valued at $2,200, a gas welder valued at $2,200, an arc welder valued at $1,200 and two gasoline bottles valued at $500 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Friday, March 16, while it was parked in the parking lot of the Outback Steakhouse restaurant, 8101 W. Higgins Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that $1,500 in cash, clothing valued at $475, a bottle of Calvin Klein men’s cologne valued at $100, a Nike bag valued at $75, a leather bag valued at $75 and a foreign passport were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized at about 5 a.m. Friday, March 16, while it was parked in the 4900 block of West Carmen Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that the front driver’s side window had been broken and that various hand tools valued at $300, two Dewalt power drills valued at $300 and a Dewalt saw valued at $100 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that automobile parts were stolen from her vehicle between 1 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. Sunday, March 18, while it was parked in the 5700 block of North Lansing Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her black 2017 Jeep Wrangler sport utility vehicle she discovered that the four doors and the roof valued at $3,000 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was burglarized between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, while it was parked in the 5400 block of North Cumberland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered that the front driver’s side window had been broken and that her purse valued at $300 containing a wallet valued at $150, $150 in cash and various identification and credit cards was missing, according to police.
