Local Crime from 16th District 3-28-18
SHOTS were fired at about 4:10 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the 5000 block of West Hutchinson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 27-year-old woman reported that she heard between six to eight gunshots and saw two black men running on the street into a gangway, according to police. The woman reported that she saw one of the men drop an object and then return to pick it up, police said.
A 65-year-old woman reported that she heard gunshots and discovered that her front window was shattered and a bullet struck her living room floor, police said. Officers found a gun in a trashcan, according to police.
A MAN and a woman reported that their vehicles were damaged by gunshots between 4:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the 5000 block of West Hutchinson Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 35-year-old man reported that he heard gunshots fired earlier in the day and that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that there was a bullet hole in a metal frame above the rear driver’s side window, and a 44-year-old woman reported that when she returned to her vehicle she discovered a bullet hole in the rear windshield and a bullet hole in the rear trunk, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 6 a.m. Sunday, March 25, in the 4000 block of North Lavergne Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old man reported that he exited a taxicab and was walking on the sidewalk when a man struck him in the head with an unknown object and that he ran away to a Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant, 5000 W. Irving Park Road, and called the police, police said.
The man was treated at Community First Medical Center, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the 4800 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 28-year-old man reported that while he was driving his vehicle, two men driving in a gray Mercedes-Benz Kompressor drove in front of him and cut him off in traffic, and that the passenger exited the vehicle and punched him in the right side of his forehead while the driver exited the vehicle, grabbed a tire iron from the trunk and hit his vehicle and shattered the rear windshield and dented the driver’s side and passenger side doors, according to police. The man reported that the men took his cellphone and drove away northbound, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested after he allegedly fired a handgun at about 4:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the 4000 block of North Laporte Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A witness reported that he saw a man fire a handgun multiple times and flee south on Lavergne Avenue from Irving Park Road, according to police. Officers located a man matching a description walking on Lavergne and that when they approached him, he ran away in the opposite direction, police said.
The man was caught in an alley in the 4900 block of West Berenice Avenue and he was arrested after he was identified, according to police. Officers discovered a semi-automatic handgun in the 3900 block of North Lavergne Avenue containing 11 live rounds and seven spent shell casings in the 4000 block of North Laporte Avenue, police said.
The man was allegedly in possession of another man’s Firearm Owners Identification Card for the handgun, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Enrico Valentino, age 31, of the 11000 block of West Grand Avenue, Northlake.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the 4000 block of North Marmora Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that while he was out shopping, his wife heard gunshots from an alley behind their residence in the 4000 block of North Monitor Avenue, and that when he returned home, he watched footage recorded on a home video surveillance system and saw two individuals in the alley, including a woman who fired a handgun three or four times into the air, according to police.
Officers discovered five spent shell casings in the backyard of a residence in the 4000 block of North Marmora Avenue, police said.
SEVERAL vehicle thefts were reported between March 19 and March 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Stolen vehicles were reported in the 5700 block of West Seminole Street, the 5100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, the 3900 block of North Nottingham Avenue, the 3200 block of North Neenah Avenue, the 5800 block of West Henderson Street, the 6100 block of North Lenox Avenue, the 4600 block of North Leclaire Avenue and the 5500 block of West Henderson Street, according to police
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man shoplifted items from the Binny’s Beverage Depot, 4901 W. Irving Park Road, at about 3:55 p.m. Saturday, March 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that as a customer was attempting to check out at a register, the man took a case of 12 bottles of cognac valued at $422 from the counter and exited the store without paying for the items, and drove away in a gray sedan automobile, according to police.
The suspect was described as black, 5-10 to 6-0 and 170 pounds, with black hair and wearing a red jumpsuit.
A TEENAGER was arrested at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, March 22, after he allegedly stole a package from the front porch of a residence in the 4300 block of North Austin Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 66-year-old man reported that he saw a teenager take a package from his front porch who then ran away westbound when he realized he was being watched, according to police. Officers located a teenager who matched a description who ran away from them and the teen was arrested in the 6300 block of West Montrose Avenue after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 17-year-old teenager.
A WOMAN reported that the garage of her home in the 5500 block of West Henderson Street was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, and 7:40 a.m. Saturday, March 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her garage she discovered that a lock on the side service door had been forced open and that a snow blower valued at $400 and a gas can were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, and 4:45 p.m. Friday, March 23, while it was parked in the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle he discovered that front driver’s side window had been broken and that eight hammer drills valued at $1,600, three Bosch drill bits valued at $600, a Bosch laser level valued at $300, a radar detector valued at $500 and an iPad tablet computer valued at $700 were missing, according to police.
