Local Crime from 16th District 3-4-15
A TEENAGER reported that a man exposed himself to her at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the 6300 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 13-year-old teen reported that she saw a man staring at her and that the man unzipped his pants, exposed himself and fondled himself and she ran away, according to police.
The man was described as white Hispanic, 5-8 to 5-9 and weighing 180 to 200 pounds, with dark glasses and wearing black clothing and a black skullcap.
A MAN WAS shot at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in the 3200 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 25-year-old man reported that while he was stopped at a traffic light, a vehicle occupied by two or three men stopped next to his car and the men flashed gang signs, according to police. The man said that he began to drive away and the men fired gunshots at his vehicle, striking the right door, the rear quarter panel window, the right rear window and his shoulder, police said.
The man reported that he drove himself to Norwegian American Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition, police said.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Citgo gas station, 6300 W. Foster Ave., was robbed at about 12:50 p.m. Monday, March 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and took $2,000 in cash and five packs of cigarettes, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:10 a.m. Sunday, March 1, in the 8400 block of West Catherine Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 25-year-old man reported that a man whom he had met at a bar earlier gave him and a friend a ride and that as he got out of the man’s vehicle, he pulled his wallet out to offer compensation and the man grabbed the wallet containing $100 and drove away, according to police. The man said that the man dragged him a few feet as he drove away, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in the 5700 block of West Higgins Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that he had arranged to meet a man whom he had met on the Internet in order to sell the man event tickets for the cost of $320, according to police. The man said that the man took the tickets, his cell phone valued at $850, a jacket valued at $30 and his keys, police said.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 4:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at her home in the 6000 block of West Eddy Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 60-year-old woman reported that she received a phone call from a man who told her that her daughter had been arrested and that she needed $2,000 for her bail, according to police. The woman reported that she gave the man her address and gave the man $2,000 when he arrived, police said.
The woman reported that she called her daughter after the man had left with the money and discovered that she had been scammed, police said.
FOUR WOMEN were arrested after an incident at about 10:55 a.m. Monday, March 2, in the 3200 block of North Linder Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 26-year-old woman reported that four women broke a window and broke through the front doors of her apartment, and took three individual shoes valued at $355, according to police. A witness reported that she also saw the women break a third-floor window in an adjacent apartment and that she recorded the incident on her cell phone, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Latisha R. Hurley, age 45, of the 4400 block of North Kimball Avenue, Kassandra C. Montoya, age 28, of the 4100 block of North Kimball Avenue, Cristina Ruiz, age 24, of the 5000 block of North Troy Street, and Anais A. Sanroman, age 21, of the 4200 block of North Menard Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that her car was burglarized at about 2:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in the 6300 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 51-year-old woman reported that she parked her car in the parking lot of a gas station, entered the convenience store and was approached by a woman who started a conversation with her, according to police. The woman said that when she returned to her car, she discovered that the side driver’s-side window was broken and that her purse, $300 in cash and a Morgan coin valued at $100 were missing, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5300 block of North Mobile Avenue was burglarized between 8:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been broken in and that $100 in jewelry was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of West Carmen Avenue was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Sunday, March 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the side door had been forced open and that a Sony video camera valued at $200 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6800 block of North Wildwood Avenue was burglarized between 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door had been broken in and that jewelry, coins and $2,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his home in the 5500 block of West Rosedale Avenue was burglarized between 7:20 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the side door of the garage was broken in and that two Honda generators valued at $1,750, three Ridgid tools valued at $450, a Dewalt 18-volt drill valued at $200, a Milwaukee Magnum Sawzall valued at $175, a mini inductor valued at $1,000, a Dewalt electric jackhammer valued at $1,500 and a generator spotlight valued at $1,000 were missing, according to police.
SEVERAL STOLEN vehicles were reported on the Northwest Side between Feb. 24 and March 2, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Incidents of stolen vehicles were reported in the 7100 block of West Balmoral Avenue, the 7100 block of West Higgins Avenue, the 5700 block of North Miltimore Avenue and the 5700 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to police.
