Local Crime from 16th District 4-18-18
TWO MEN reported that they were robbed at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the 5300 block of West Windsor Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old men and a witness reported that they drove to a woman’s apartment who is friends with the witness, and that when they arrived and greeted her she left and returned with two men and said, "Here they are," and that one of the men concealed his face with his sweater, pointed a handgun at them and demanded their belongings before they men took a cell phone valued at $200 and a wallet containing $116 in cash from one of the men, and an iPhone 7 cell phone valued at $600 and $140 from the other man, according to police.
The man with the handgun was described as Hispanic, age 17 to 19, about 5-4 and 125 pounds, with black hair and wearing a gray sweater. The second man was described as age 17 to 19, 5-5 and 5-6 and 140 pounds, with black hair and wearing a gray and white jacket, tan sweatpants and a green bandana.
A MAN REPORTED that two men robbed him at gunpoint at about 8:55 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the 5000 block of West Grace Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 68-year-old man reported that while he was walking to a friend’s residence two men approached him and said, "What do you got," and that one of the men pointed a black handgun at him while the other man took his iPhone 4 cell phone, according to police.
The men were described as Hispanic, age 19 to 25 and about 5-8.
A MAN REPORTED that four men robbed him at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, in the 6000 block of West Grace Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that while he was walking four men approached him from a gangway and that two of the men threatened him with brass knuckles and a baseball bat while all four men displayed gang signs at him, demanded money and took $50 from him before they entered a green Nissan Maxima and drove away eastbound, according to police.
The men were described as Hispanic and age 20 to 25.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:20 a.m. Sunday, April 15, in the 4800 block of West Roscoe Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that while he and a 20-year-old woman were waiting to be picked up by an Uber vehicle, three men approached them and punched and kicked him in the face and body and took his iPhone 6 cell phone before they entered a 4-door Chrysler automobile and drove away eastbound, according to police.
The man was transported to Community First Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
The men were described as Hispanic and ages 20 to 25.
A WOMAN REPORTED that she was robbed at about 12:15 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the 6800 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 70-year-old woman reported that while she was walking in an alley a man ran up to her with his face concealed and hit her on the shoulder as he grabbed her purse containing an iPhone 6 cell phone, credit cards and $100 in cash from her and ran away, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 40, 5-8 and 5-9 and 145 and 160 pounds.
TWO MEN reported that a home and a vehicle were damaged by gunshots between 2:20 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. Sunday, April 15, in the 4400 block of North McVicker Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 55-year-old man reported that he heard several gunshots outside his home and that he discovered two bullet holes on the wall inside a first floor bedroom, and a 60-year-old man reported that he heard several gunshots and that when he returned to his parked vehicle he discovered a bullet hole above the front windshield, according to police.
TWO VEHICLES were set on fire at about 12:20 a.m. Friday, April 13, in the 6300 block of West Cornelia Avenue and the 3500 block of North Mobile Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that a neighbor woke him up and told him that his vehicle was on fire and that he discovered that his vehicle was engulfed in flames, according to police. The man reported that a neighbor recorded footage of someone standing in front of the vehicle before it caught fire, police said.
Officers responded to another call of a vehicle on fire and discovered a vehicle parked on the street with a broken window that was burning, and that they were unable to contact the owner following the incident, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his residence in the 5300 block of West Byron Street was burglarized at about 9 a.m. Saturday, April 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage he discovered that a window valued at $150 and a garage door lock valued at $80 had been broken, and that an air compressor valued at $2,000 and tools valued at $300 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that the garage of his residence in the 5200 block of West Warner Avenue was burglarized between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, and 8:40 a.m. Thursday, April 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to his garage, he discovered the side door had been broken in, and that two key machines valued at $800, two vanities valued at $800, A bowling ball and bag valued at $450, two paintball guns valued at $400 and a bicycle valued at $250 were missing, according to police.
