SHOTS WERE fired at about 4:45 p.m. Monday, April 15, in the 4400 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 42-year-old man reported that he was walking off a bus when he heard a loud noise, dove to the ground and saw a man firing about four shots from the driver’s seat of a gray vehicle at a teenage male running away north, according to police. Officers recovered four spent .45-caliber bullet casings on the street and a spent .380-caliber bullet casing on the sidewalk from where the teen ran from, police said.
A WOMAN reported that two males attempted to rob her at gunpoint at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, in the 5000 block of West Newport Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old woman reported that she was walking past a house when two males on a front porch approached her and asked for money and when she replied she wasn’t carrying a wallet, one of theme pointed to a small black handgun in his waistband and declared a robbery and she ran away, according to police.
The armed male was described as white/Hispanic, age 16 to 20, 5-0 to 5-2, 140 to 160 pounds, and wearing light blue pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and gym shoes. The other male was described as white, age 16 to 20, 5-8 to 5-10, with blue eyes and blond/strawberry colored hair.
A WOMAN WAS arrested on drug charges at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at a home in the 5600 block of North Ozark Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Officers executed a search warrant and detained a woman after a resident said she allegedly invites people who do drugs on the premises, and officers searched the residence and recovered 13 bags containing 3.9 grams of a substance suspected of being heroin, and 12 plastic bags containing 1.2 grams of a rock-like substance suspected of being crack cocaine and the woman was arrested, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Valerie Simpson, age 55, of the 5600 block of North Ozark Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED on April 20 that he was threatened at gunpoint at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in an apparent road rage incident in a parking lot in the 6600 block of Northwest Highway, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that he was pulling away from a parking spot when a man yelled that he parked too close to his vehicle, lifted his shirt and showed a gun hanging from his side, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 74, approximately 6-2 and 250 pounds, with bald hair.
A WOMAN reported that a man damaged her vehicle in an apparent road rage incident at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, in the 5300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 26-year-old woman reported that she drove her vehicle in front of a dark gray or blue Kia Optima when the male driver became irate, drove in front of her and stopped, exited and screamed, struck her vehicle’s hood and then retrieved a baseball bat from his trunk and hit her vehicle’s passenger-side window and door before she was able to reverse, according to police. The woman reported that the man followed and recorded her on his phone before he drove away south on Central Avenue, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 25 to 30, and wearing a mechanic’s jacket and protective eyewear.
EMPLOYEES of Citi Bank, 3535 N. Central Ave., reported a suspicious man at the bank at about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, who matched a description of a man who robbed the bank on April 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that she saw a man enter the bank wearing the same mask and clothes as the man who robbed the bank of $2,500 on April 10, and she signaled the manager who called police and followed the man as he left the premises south on Central and fled through a gangway in the 3500 block of North Central Avenue, according to police. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the man, police said.
The man was described as age 30 to 40, 5-8 and 200 pounds, and wearing a surgical mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt and light colored jeans.
In the previous incident, a teller reported that a man handed her a note stating a robbery and implied that he had a weapon and that she surrendered about $2,500 in cash from a drawer and that the man ran away, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 30 to 40, 5-5 to 5-6, 160 to 170 pounds, and wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, faded dark blue jeans, a black and white print baseball cap, sunglasses and a surgical mask.
A MAN WAS stabbed in an apparent domestic-related incident at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Mount Olive Cemetery, 3800 N. Narragansett Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he and his girlfriend were visiting a graveyard to pay respects to his deceased daughter, and that when they arrived they saw his ex-girlfriend, his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend and his son and daughter, according to police. The man reported that his ex-girlfriend exchanged words with him and told the children to "ignore" him, and that during the argument her boyfriend grabbed him by the shirt, punched him in the face and stabbed him with a pocketknife, police said. The man was treated at Community First Medical Center for treatment, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man damaged his car in an apparent road rage incident at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in the 5400 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that he was driving his Suzuki SX4 east on Addison when the passenger of an adjacent 2011 Kia Soul started arguing with him, and that the passenger threw a shoe out the window, breaking the side mirror of his Suzuki as the Kia continued driving east on Addison, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 25 to 30, about 5-9 and 180 pounds, with bald hair.
A HOUSE FIRE was reported at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, in the 3800 block of North Oketo Avenue according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he woke up to the smell of smoke and discovered a large amount of smoke in the attic, and he woke up his wife and children and evacuated his family without injuries, according to police. Firefighters extinguished the fire and determined that it was caused by a space heater in the attic, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly breaking into a garage in the 6000 block of North Newburg Avenue at about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A man reported that he heard noise from his garage and observed a man inside, who said he had been inside all night and his wife called police who arrested the man, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Miles McGaha, age 37, of the 1900 block of South Saint Louis Avenue.
A TEENAGER reported that he saw a man break into his family’s house in the 5500 block of North Mango Avenue at about 5:15 p.m. Saturday, April 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The teen reported that when he woke up from a nap he saw a man standing across the hallway and that he chased him out the rear door, and that a short time later he heard the same man trying to break in again through the rear door and the teen exited his house via a window and noticed that the unknown man fled again, according to police. No proceeds were reported missing, police said.
The man was described as white/ Hispanic with a medium complexion, age 30 to 35, with a styled hairstyle and wearing a dark blue jacket.
A MAN REPORTED that he was the victim of a scam at his house in the 6100 block of West Waveland Avenue between 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a man knocked on his back door, said that "his father repaired his roof" and brought him to the side of the house to discuss possible repairs, and that after the man left in a blue vehicle parked in the alley he discovered that a second person entered his home and $10,000 in cash was missing from a dresser drawer, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 35 to 40, 5-8 to 5-11 and 170 to 180 pounds.
AN EMPLOYEE of Pope Francis Global Academy, 5859 N. Moody Ave., reported that cash was stolen from the school between 2:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. Saturday, April 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The employee reported that the school was hosting an end-of-season party for the volleyball team when she discovered that $1,100 in cash was missing from the concession area of the school’s gymnasium, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that six parked vehicles and a garage in the 3300 block of North Ozark Avenue were vandalized with graffiti between 1:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday, April 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her car she discovered blue spray paint on the driver’s side of the vehicle, and officers discovered that five additional vehicles and a garage door were also vandalized with spray paint, according to police.
SEVERAL burglaries to vehicles were reported between April 15 and 18, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Vehicular burglaries were reported in the 3700 block of North New England Avenue, the 4900 block of West Carmen Avenue, the 5800 block of West Cullom Avenue, the parking lot of the Springhill Suites hotel, 8101 W. Higgins Road, and two in the 3400 block of North Oconto Avenue, according to police.
SEVERAL vehicles were reported stolen between April 12 and 20, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Stolen vehicles were reported in the 3700 block of North Odell Avenue, the 4200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, the 5600 block of West Berenice Avenue, and the 6100 and 6200 blocks of North Cicero Avenue, according to police.
A CITY employee reported that a man threatened him at about 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, in an alley in the 7200 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that a man in a Toyota Corolla was blocking the garbage route and that the man began yelling profanities and threatened to hurt him, according to police.

THE OWNER of the Premier Dental office, 7100 W. Higgins Ave. reported that the business was burglarized between 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6 and 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned to the office he discovered that the rear door was damaged and that numerous pieces of dental equipment valued at $19,600 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his house in the 7700 block of West Forest Preserve Avenue was burglarized between 8 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Friday, April 19, in the 7700 block of West Forest Preserve Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was open and that a designer brand watch valued at $700, two pairs of diamond earrings valued at $1,100 total, three necklaces valued at $700 total, a stethoscope valued at $250, a checkbook and a backpack were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3400 block of North Neva Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, April 14, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a rear window was open and the rear house door was unlocked and that a gold chain and $5,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
