Local Crime from 16th District 5-20-15
A man was stabbed at about 11 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the 3400 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 34-year-old man reported that after he left a party at a bar, a man approached him and challenged him to a fight, and a witness reported that another man slashed the 34-year-old on the neck with a razor blade, according to police. The man was later admitted to Stroger Hospital, police said.
A man was arrested on gun and assault charges following an incident at about 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 15, at an apartment complex in the 5400 block of North East River Road, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A maintenance man reported that he went to an apartment and knocked on the man’s door and the man pointed a gun at him and threatened him, according to police. Several people reported that they have been having problems with the man and they feared that he might become violent, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Ryan J. McGauley, age 31, of the 5400 block of North East River Road.
A teenager reported that he was robbed at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, in the 3300 block of North Natchez Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that two men punched him in the head and took his iPhone, according to police.
A man reported that his bicycle was stolen at about 2:20 p.m. Saturday, May 16, in the 7400 block of West Forest Preserve Drive, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that he shouted at the occupants of a sport utility vehicle that was being driven the wrong way on the street and that two men got out of the vehicle and one of them chased him and threw a bottle at him, according to police. The man said that he off his bicycle and ran away and that one of them took the mountain bike valued at $450, police said.
The owner of the Smoke and Vape shop, 4945 N. Milwaukee Ave., reported that the business was burglarized between 3 a.m. and 3:40 a.m. Saturday, May 16, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee of the McDonald’s restaurant across the street reported that he heard the sound of glass breaking and saw two men running away from the business, according to police. The owner reported that 50 water pipes valued at about $5,520 were missing, police said. A surveillance tape shows a man break a window with a baseball bat at about 3 a.m., return and unlock the door, and then return with a second man at about 3:30 a.m. and take the items, police said.
A man reported that his home in the 5500 block of West Giddings Street was burglarized between 9 a.m. Friday, May 15, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the back door had been forced open and that costume jewelry and two watches valued at $200 were missing, according to police.
A woman reported that her home in the 5300 block of North Laramie Avenue was burglarized between 7 a.m. Friday, May 15, and 12:25 p.m. Sunday, May 17, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a yard statue valued at $700, two lawn mowers valued at $300 and a hand truck valued at $75 were missing, according to police.
A man reported that items were taken from his construction truck between noon and 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, while it was parked in the 5600 block of West Dakin Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that he discovered that a concrete saw valued at $2,000, a generator valued at $1,000, a sewer camera valued at $3,000 and a compactor valued at $3,000 were missing, according to police.
A woman reported that her home in the 5100 block of North Sayre Avenue was burglarized between 3 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear door was open and that a 9mm handgun, a bracelet valued at $850 and $2,000 in cash were missing, according to police.
A man reported that his home in the 6300 block of North Canfield Avenue was burglarized between 9:20 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that $5,000 in cash was missing, according to police.
A couple reported that their home in the 6900 block of North Tonty Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. Sunday, May 10, and 11:30 p.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that a door was open and that a turntable valued at $100 and four framed paintings valued at $400 were missing, according to police.
